I have an 05 with a PC exhaust. I drilled out the mix plug, turned it out 2 1/4 turns from zero, kept the stock pilot, bumped the main to a 160 and raised the needle to the 4th clip. It's FAR smoother then it used to be.

Going to a 50 pilot is a big jump. Have you played with the needle yet? The needle move made a noticeable difference.

My 05 had a brass plug covering the mix screw. Getting more common these days for some reason. Maybe yours was already removed.

Your needle should be adjustable and the cool thing is you can get to it with little effort. Just take the 2 screws off the top of the carb, remove the cap & spring, remove the slide and with some needle nose pliers reach in the top of the slide and grab the plug holding the needle. It's just held by o-ring, no threads. There will be another little spring there and some shims you should pay attention to. Lower the clip to the 4th slot from the top raising the needle in the slide. Put it all back together and try it out.

so when i pull that little white plug out (mine was white) it had a little spring under it now under that will be a clip? does it just pull out from the top or side? and thank you for all your help im try to learn

Once that little plug is out you can slide the needle right out of there and work on it. The clip is on the needle. The thick white plastic shim on the needle will move out of your way. Just keep track of all the washers/shims and put them back in the same order.

You can jet to match this tip removal and although you will notice a gain it's more loud then power. Just remember your jetting will be different for when the tip is in and when it is out.

ok so the needle was adjustable and it was on the 3rd clip from the top so i put it to the 4th slut from the top (there is 5 slots) and the flat spot got cut in half, still wish it had more lowend power like the 660 but boy this thing can hit some high RPMs

Getting closer. What main and pilot jet are you running and how many turns out on the mix screw?

on my old carb it ran best with a 47.5 pilot.....in all honesty there should be no comparison to a 660 anywhere in the rpm range the pred motor is stronger everywhere.

katch26 was yours stock with a 47.5 pilot? and what needle slot? my 01 raptor will smoke my predator unless we start at a good high rpm and then there neck an neck..

My 05 is stock with a 45 pilot (2-1/4 turn on the mix screw). It will flat out smoke a raptor with just the pipe and jetting. Still run stock intake.

Katch, what was your mix screw setting with the 47.5?

Boosted, if you don't feel a difference when adjusting the mix screw then you might be too rich. What do you run for intake and exhaust? Did you figure out what main you have yet?

no on the main i get off late, ill try to look this week end. you thank that i sould go back to the 45 pilot? , and if so befor i went up on the pilot it was a dog... but it got way better with the needle clip move from the 3rd to the 4th slot

Yeah it was with filter and pipe I think it was between 2&3 turns out.... Been awhile since I used that carb just really remember the jet sizes for some reason

Maybe try 1 turn out on the mix screw with that 50 one more time.

ok so i got to go for a ride lastnight and i turned the air/fuel screw back in and the out 1 turn and that bog was back bad as ever, like it was befor the needle clip move, so that tells me it wants more fuel? i did not get a chance to put it back to 3 turns out, you thank i need a biger main? if you floor it it starts to acel good for a sec and then looses power then hauls *****

is this exhaust and open filter?

nevermind I see its all stock, I thought you had pipe and filter. If everything is completely stock Id put it all back to stock and start over. You really shouldnt need a different pilot or main unless youre at elevation.
