My 08 LTR has a broken third gear , is this a common problem and if so where do I go to remedy this?
Thanks Jim

Suzuki has revised the gear 2 times since the original change in '08. I have shelled the the original '08 (that took 15hrs) and the first updated '09 gears (they lasted not even 10hrs). I am now running the ATP Billet gears with no problems after 20hrs. Suzuki's 2nd (and latest) revision of the gears are wider. Though I haven't heard how well they are holding up yet.

The 06 and 07 have a weak shift pin in the case. You can install a shift pin relocator which you can pick up for about $50 - $75.

the 09 3rd gear is no better than the 08..a fellow a-class racer went and bought a new 08 last year and in about 5-6 months blew 3rd. got the 09 3rd and it lasted maybe as long...

We already done that in ours . We have had it for two years now and have been very pleased .

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it does happen on te 07's too, though no where near as common as the the 08,09's. I know because I have an 07 and had to replace mine mid season last year. I have about 10-12 hours on it since then and no issues yet.

learn how to shift .

hehe!

Im only joking !! haha ! :p

Ive read alot of 3rd gears on the 08-09 but not alot on the 06. I hope we never go threw that because my Daughter does indeed powershift, but she does do it correctly. Last season she banged the gears abit hard and thats when we said we really needed to get the shift pin mod done .

lol

I did the shift pin mod as soon as it became available. I think I know how to shift, I've been riding for 35 years.:blah:

I admit, I don't always use the clutch but, I do most of my shifting when I'm in the air. If I'm on the ground I always use the clutch.

I think the main reason 3rd gear broke is I am 250 lbs., I do strictly MX which is mostly 3rd gear and I'm not your typical "big dude". I go big! Pappy has seen it! hahaha
