how do you check trans. fluid level on a 1996 honda 300ex and what type of fluid does it take?

I could be wrong but isn't the transmission lubed with the engine oil. Its not separate. When you check the oil your checking both motor and tranny

Motor oil = tans oil on a 300ex. they are one and the same. This is why it must be changed more often then say a car would.
