lt250r problems "first ride"

i rode my qr today after getting my chain/sprocket kit in this afternoon.it was my first ride on it and something is definatly not right.when i hit half throttle its losses all power and is boggy.upon closer inspection i noticed there is a tear in the top of the carb boot.i have a spare motor but the boot on that one is not the same as the one with the hole in it. but the motors look exactly alike.im sure the kiehn carb on it is not stock.but how do i find a boot to fit?sorry fot the lengthly post.any suggestions?

87 engines have a different reed assembly than the 88+ models. 87 has 5 bolts on the reed cage and the 88+ has 6. That's the only difference I know of. 88+ should be pretty easy to find if that's the one you need.

the one on my QR has 5 bolts the spare motor i have has 6...is there a difference in between the 85-87 motors? so basically i have a 87 motor and a 88-92 motor right?

Sounds like you have the 87 in your quad. The 85/86 is different also, they don't have an exhaust valve. 87 is one of a kind and that's the only year boot that will fit. An 87 quadzilla boot would bolt up but they angle the carburetor to the side and it wouldn't connect to your airbox.

New oem runs about $55. 13110-01C00 is the part number.

thanks for all your for help i really appreciate it.i looked lastnight also i only found a few and one of them was that ebay one.it also looks like a rm250 boot would bolt up as well.is the stock carb for this motor a mikuni or kiehn?im running a kiehn.

my reed setup looks different compared to the e-bay one.and 50 bucks with shipping i might as well just buy a new one.

ive seen some reeds that look different from the one thats on my quad.some have 4 some have 2 whats the difference?
