The title basically sums it up. When i graduated from highschool i was interested in joining, but went to the local college. Im about to get my 2 year degree in criminal justice and didnt know if that would help me start in a higher rank in the coast guard. Anyone with any kinda info at all would be great!

About all I can say is a friend joined up some time ago to get out of the rut he was in and he honestly couldnt be happier. Says its great, excellent pay for what he does and he loves it.

If the CG is anything like the Army, if you have 60 credit hours you can join as a warrant officer. If you don't want to go that route, your credit hours might help you get to E-3.

I think i remember someone telling me that 40 hours will let you start out at that rank, but im not sure. It might be 60 (if the cg does it at all). Maybe someone on here is a coastie and can tell me haha.
