Just wondering how people are using this for their kids/riders? Our racing district has been talking a lot about getting all of our tracks trained and on board with this important safety item. Any one using these or know if the National tracks are on board with this? I witnessed a horrific 90 Mod crash yesterday where one of my sons racing buddies lost control at full speed coming off a table top and slammed right in the face of the next jump on his side. We were right by his side as he laid on the track for 15 minutes crying and complaining that his neck and back hurt, and watching the paramedics trying to remove his Leatt and helmet was awful. My son WILL have one of those Eject systems in his helmet for the next race. I had a tough time sleeping last night and my hands are still shaking. Thank God he did not suffer any major injuries and after an hour of observation he was released and was cleared to come back for the second moto. I kind of wish that Seth didn't have to see that, but maybe it was for the good, IDK.

Where can we learn more about this eject system?

many of the helmet companys have something of their webs sites about how they work. Go to Bell or Aria and some of the other high end ones.

do u know if there is a way that the EMT would know that the rider has one in there helmet, 2 times time I had to run out onto the track and by the time I would get there they would already have his helmet off, so I would wonder if the EMT would know to use the device without being told by the parent that the kid had one in there helmet???

After spending 4 hrs in the ER with Ryan this morning I will have this when we come back. Unfortunately Ryan sustained a serious concussion on saturday in the Supermini first moto. ( i feel bad for letting him ride sunday). His condition worsened last night so we took him to the hospital, we will need to see a specialist next week at Univ of Mich.

He will be out at least until Minnesota. ( God willing )

Oh yes, the Leatt brace worked too.( he has a sprained neck)

I hate to hear about Ryan being injured. He's a tough kid. We will be sure to include him in our prayers tonight. Keep us posted on him.

As far as the eject system. I belive it is mandatory in AMA Supercross so there must be something to it.

www.shockdoctor .com is where I am finding info. Once you install the device in your helmet there is a sticker you put on the outside of the helmet to show where the connection point is. On the Shock Doctor website it takes you to Bound Tree who provides the training and the EMT responder bags. You cant just buy the EMT bags due to liability issues. We (the District board members) are working with our track owners to get their paramedics trained. Then we will start promoting the Eject system and get the word out to all of our riders. We already havd plans to give them out as awards at the year end banquet. But this an important item that we are working hard to get all of our riders aware of.

"working with our track owners to get their paramedics trained."

That is the key...Most Paramedics that work these types of events are not familar with MX specialty equipment. Most tracks contact their local EMS agency and ask for an ambulance to standby for an event. The EMS agency either brings in an extra crew or sends a crew already on duty. The track officials should review some of the equipment with the crew before racing begins.

Some tracks and even some series (Alabama arena cross) has a Paramedic that follows the series and is at every race. Having the same one there every race is a benefit, the kids know him, the parents know him, he knows the equipment and does a great job.

The only down side I see with using it would be if the rider has a skull fracture. using a device that pushes against the skull could cause a depression if the skull is fractured. That shouldnt be much of a problem because skull fractures are rare.

The only time a helmet should be removed quickly is when there is an imediate need for airway control.....That is the priority.

I filed my paper work with Shock Doctor to become a dealer, but dont have pricing yet. But, I dont care, I ordered one Monday from Rocky Mountain ATV and had it 3 dayed so we could have it before this Sunday. Cost me $76.99 and it included the pump so if need be at least I will have one if Seth ever is in need of it. I hope we never use it, but that little extra protection might help give me a little peice of mind knowing that short of wrapping him in bubble wrap, he is as protected as possible.

Here is a copy of the email notification they sent me, maybe you can get the info you need out of it. I tried attaching the link to the item on their site but I couldnt get it to work, so this was my best idea. Hope it helps.

There is one for $59 too, but it's just the halmet bladder. If your tracks arent quite on line with it yet, I felt the extra $10 was worth it for the hand pump so YOU can at least us it if you need to. We are pushing this really hard in our district. Hopefully I will have my account set up with them in a week, I dont know what my cost will be, but if I can save you guys a few bucks I will do it. I'm not in it to make a buck on these, I just think they need to get out there in our riders helmets.
