im looking for a new chain.there seem to be a ton of them out there.do i need a o-ring or non o-ring chain?im looking for a 520 chain right?102 links?thanks in advance.

I know late reply... But you def want an o-ring chain. The o-ring helps keep the grease in the rollers, and dirt out. I've had great luck with the DID x-ring chain, which is a variance of the o-ring. Rocky Mountain seems to have the best price on them. And yes, you want a 520/102 link chain if the sprockets are stock 12-42.

i bought a chain kit from ebay but i dont think its an o ring chain.next time ill make sure its an o ring chain.

That will work for a little while. If you do much riding, be prepared to put another chain on by next year. Sorry I didn't respond to your post sooner!
