For those of us running high compression 440s i think this will be my next addition to heat control. Thermostatically controlled of course.

i think it would be cheaper to mount a bigger cooler with a spal fan install, 150 is a bit pricey for the size of that

looks ok to me. i ouldnt find any cooling efficiency ratings though.

Im already running a Spal fan on my factory cooler with a custom made thermostatic switch with the addition of a 12" generic oil cooler from autozone and my 440 with 12.5:1 doesnt run any hotter than it did stock. As far installation though i feel this would be more efficient and factory looking.

when i had my 440 i removed the stock cooler and replace it and modify stock lines to fit a jegs transmission cooler for a hotrod, mine wouldnt warm up on a cold (below 30*) day. lol no fan on it. it claims to drop tranny temps on a hotrod by 50 * very clean looking, mounts in the same spot, with the same bolt holes and its 50% bigger than stock, cant use the stock heat shield, but u wont need it. it only cost me 45$ and about 45 min of work, looks very nice and professional too.

I went to my local auto parts store and asked them for the smallest trans oil cooler they had...

For 30 bucks, you can get a nice, BIGGER not by much oil cooler.

you can either run it inline with your existing oil cooler or get rid of that small ex cooler and just run the bigger one.

its in my turbo thread look in the pics and you will see the oil cooler.

Check my 2002 400ex build thread, there's pics of my cooler and fan. Its 11x7.5, with a 4"spal mounts to the stock location and looks factory...

Im talking about having a more solid professional looking oil cooler set up. I tapped my head and case for the additional front 12" oil cooler on mine and its overkill. My 440 on higher compression runs COOLER than it did stock making run after run up China Wall at Glamis. My thermostatic switch is set at 180 degrees and the fan doesnt even have to come on that long. Only thing is for the $40 i spent to add it.... it looks good.... but flimsy if you get my drift. Being i already have the Spal fan i think i'll just be buying it without the fan as found here: http://www.proracestore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=10700&zenid=m32d0h3ealp2n6s4ko2e955663

My current cooler was copied from this: http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=384244&highlight=cooler

My set up looks identical to his only run directly to the clutch side cover & cylinder head.

I seen this the other day and thought wow that would make a big oil cooler. its got the fan mounted, temp probe installed. this would add capacity or might even hold enough to replace your oil tank. i would rather store my oil in a radiator than a tank. all you would have to do is bush down the inlets to oil line size. i wish i had a beater quad i could experiment on LOL just a thought guys dont flame me to bad.
