Nice pics !
What is the distance on that large double you got? Also how much room do you have to accelerate?
I have a practice track at my place too. I will try and post pics soon. I don't have any jumps that large at my place.

Watering is the part I hate.:(

Rootar
05-17-2010, 11:48 AM
water is for drinking... i still lack a way to water my track though. thougt about using our 2" pump and a large tank on a trailer. I would fill it up out of the pond with the pump then swap the hoses and then shoot water on the track with a large 2 inch spray nozzle. i wouldnt even have to drive on the track and i wouldnt have to worry about over watering any particular spot. But it would take two people since some one would have to drive the tractor pulling the trailer.

Cant you set up a few hoses, and place some sprinklers round the track? Or do you not have access to water like that?

Rootar
05-17-2010, 02:13 PM
well i would have had water out there but our well and pump (on a dock in the lower pond) that feeds the barn and fence line has been out of service for 4-5 years and i dont wanna trouble with that thing. We have trailer and High pressure 2inch pump and everything needed to do what i was talking about except i need a larger water tank... the one we have is too small.

That track is sick………no room for error. Sounds like as much as you change it that a sprinkler system would be hard to do. The water tank sounds like a better choice. I don’t have my skid loader anymore so I can’t build anything anymore. That sucks!!

Rootar

yes these whoops are on 9 foot centers, my last set pictured below were on 8 foot centers and the same depth im hoping this little change will allow me to use 2nd gear to skim them rather than 1st gear like the ones below. keep in mind my bike is geared very high, on a 450 we are talking 2nd pinned in the old ones and im hoping top of 3rd for these.... no sense in them being easy.

you can also read up on track building at http://www.dirtwurx.com/track_tips4.php they give good pointers but honestly it just takes alot of time and practice to know how to building a track with good jumps that will last and not blow apart.

these whoops were narly in person but the shape would ONLY allow you to skim them, hell you couldnt even ride through them hardly with out draging frame and hitting your bumper on the next one

muddy400EX

if you get them down please post pics of you skimmin them, or a vid would be better. not saying i dont believe you, i just wanna see it

we have the whoops started. i we just eyeballed it i would say 9 foot centers is very close to what we have at the start and we stretched them out the farther you go. i hope brent hit's them first lol. but other than that we have just wrote it on paper. we have are going to rent a bobcat soon and do the track one weekend.

If I had that remotely close to my house let alone in my backyard I wouldn't do anything but ride.

Hey tom, my track is down in south central arkanasas about 25 minutes from Gurdon from I-30 i actaully come up to Beebe fairly often as i helped build the new Indoor R/C track over there. i'd love to swing by next time im coming through and check out the track. Ive actually seen those pics from DB mikes site already. his place has gone to hell for riding. malibu just north of him is alot of fun.

how old are your kids?

THARNESS
05-21-2010, 07:32 AM
My son's are 12 and 8. They race the 90modified and 70 modified classes. We are going to Heber tomorrow night for a race.
I didn't know Beebe had an indoor r/c track. Ryan has a t-maxx 3.3. Where is the track at.

Next time your up this way stop by. If you go to our website www.harnessbrothers.com you can send me an e-mail.

Ive been meaning to come up and race a heber but just havent gotten the chance yet.

hey harness. do hay bails not eventually get broke down and the jump could start to collapse?

THARNESS
05-22-2010, 08:48 AM
We used round bales and stood them on thier ends so they would be firmer. It may eventually break down but it should take years. Some of the local tracks have been doing this for a while. It dosen't cost much to buy junk hay and if you ever wanted to turn it back into a field again just smooth the dirt and hay out together with a dozer.

05-22-2010, 11:02 AM
whoops on video need to be spaced out more. your just riding over the top of them like a couple breaking and accelerating bumps. shocks are just soaking them up. i suggest a couple feet apart. but other then that sick track!!

Rootar
05-22-2010, 12:06 PM
the haybales last a long time ive got about 9-10 under my track right now and once they are covered on all sides they will "settle" after a few good rains but they are solid after they get compressed and they are cheap and easy when you need to build a big landing.
