I installed mine last night. It was easy to installed and the msd program is very detailed. I haven't been able to ride it yet but just starting the quad and bumping the throttle I can tell the msd is well worth the wait and the money I spent.

well i installed the msd today and i am gonna have to say well worth the money. i love it. you have ten diffrent settings to choose from the first four range from stock settings to pipe and filter plus 500 rpm. the next couple are completely programmable your self you can plug in to any lap top or desk top and tune your machine and even advance the timing throughout the throtle range it is probly one of the best controllers out on the market for the money. highly reccomended for those that want the power out of their machine.

so this is plug and go then...? do u need a lap top to change from the first 4?

no you use a pocket screwdriver to turn a dial and it has numbers around the dial that you select from

so i could buy it, plug it in the bike and just use the screw driver to choose from the first 4 and ride, i am useless when it comes to computers so i wont buy it if i have to use one lol

I am using #8 with copying #3 settings and fuel accel at 80& to 120%. I am getting it dyno tuned in 2 weeks. Here are the settings.

0. Stock (locked)
1. Enhanced stock (Locked)
2. Pipe & Filter (locked)
3. Pipe and filter + 500 RPM (locked)
4. through 6 are Stock enhanced
7. & 8 Stock enhanced, default (same as tune 2, user configurable)
9. By-pass (diagnostic) - (locked)

For the first few months you can only buy the msd from a dealership. After that msd will be selling them also. This msd is only for the yfz450r / x

all the thing is is a piggback unit to ecu....it doesnt even have any fuel mapping in it......u still have to add fuel values..... not worth the time.....

You have to adjust the fuel just like on a Power commander. After i got my biked tuned with it we added in the +5 advanced timing map thats preset on tune 1/2 and gained almost 2hp.

39 before ignition and 41 after. It was apparently a low reading dyno and the elevation was about 5500ft i think. those #s were with venom pump piston in a 480 kit, with k&n filter, Full HMF, and a ported head.

Try these numbers. I put the numbers in my msd and made my bike run alot better. I have fmf 4.1 with quiet core, prodesign adaptor with k&n filter, 06 intake cam, and open airbox.

do you think those numbers would work on my bike i have a full gytr and a velocity intake with open air box?

02bwraptor

That would be a good starting point.

i entered the numbers and it runs alot better but do you think you could tell me how to add the extra 500 rpm and maybe give me a starting point on some numbers in that colum?

I don't know the answer but you can call MSD Powersports 888-258-3835 ask for bret. Msd has one of the best customer service.
