250x kickstart in 300ex

im looking for the most info possible

will i lose reverse?

can i remove the battery after?

i have the 250x right side case, i have the kickstart shaft, and all the gears for inside

i'm looking for install information

have heard splittings cases, and not splitting cases

you want have to split the cases.

You can remove the battery, it will run fine.

One thing to remember. The CDI on the 300ex is different. The 300ex reguires more RPM's to fire. (that's why you can't interchange the CDI's) There is also no decomprision on the 300ex. It will be a little tougher to start but it works fine. Seen it done more than once.

i keep reading something about putting some 250x shaft in, instead of the 300ex reverse shaft

oh and what case gasket should i use, with the 250x cover, 250x gasket or 300ex gasket

I have had both apart many times and never noticed a difference in the shaft. While you have the cover off I would flip the spring to do away with this.

I also don't think there is a difference in the gasket.

Yea i have a 250x kick start and i could change it whenever i wonted to

The gasket are the same between the two. The shaft the holds the reverse gear is longer in t he 250x then in the 300ex. It sticks through the center case and holds one of the gears in place for the kicker. You can just made a shaft that makes up for the extra and stick it in and it goes in to the centercase and the side case or you can split the case and replace that shaft in the 300ex with one for a 250x.
