Product review: FMF Q4

This pipe is quiet! it has a nice increase in low end while not losing anything on top. On my machine when compared to my t-4 it has better rev down low and kept the same as the t-4 up top. The same peak hp is there but the low end is great with it compared to my t-4 with the stage 2. the t-4 pulled nice from 3rd to 4th this one is from 1st to 2nd where the wheelies come into play with the fun. It is like running my t-4 with my stage 1. The low end is great. This one with the stage 2 makes for a great combo for both low and top. Overall, it is a high quality part and the only downfall i found on the install was putting the rubber on the strap for the mount. It only took me about 20 minutes start to finish to install it and I did not have to change my jetting at all either from what i already had. The power is great and on par with the t-4 and it super quiet. It will def pass any inspection and sound test. steve

Ive had 3 FMF products (2 exhausts and 1 header) and theyre junk in my opinion. All the tubes cracked but good luck with yours, theyre just not for me.

I think FMF makes a very good product expecially for the money...I had fmf pipes on my old 250r and they held up great as well as Had the powerbomb header on my crf 250r bike (stock silencer) And now on my 400ex I have a powercore 4. I think it has a great sound, no its not at loud as some but it has a great tone. Its held up fine for me except that stupid rubber on the strap is takes like 10 minutes to get on and then starts sliding outta the groove after about 5 rides lol. You cant beat it if you ask me 239 bucks for great sound and power.

it will def serve the purpose to have a quiet alternative to an exhaust. I love the feel of it with my setup. It has nice low end that i like and looks to be great quality. steve

I've had a power bomb header and a Q2 on my ex forever and I love the quiet performance and it has never cracked or given me any problems. And I hate to say it , but I'm no exactly easy on my stuff!!!! Good luck with it.

If i can get up and walk out i will take some shots. I just had my arthroscopic surgery today so there is not much moving to be had lol. Ill def take some shots though sometime. steve

heres a couple of the outside. 3 sets of stitches lol. I had my maniscus fixed and some bumps on the top of my knee taken off. lol. it is coming along good though, it just itches terrible so that is good. at least it is healing up nicely lol. I am not going to add these to imageshack so ill just post up the small ones. lol. steve

Is the Q4 your state trail friendly pipe? The guy that bought my 400ex got a nasty ticket with the T4. DNR seems to be crackin' down harder now. Can't blame really blame them.

you got it correct lol. this is my trail pipe. I think it is right around 90 dbs but i havent actually checked it myself. I think my t-4 would pass with new packing in it but i dont want to take the chance. lol. My knee is about 90% now again so it is doing really good. i just have to get the stitch holes healed up the rest of the way and get the swelling down all the way and i will be set. thanks for your concern! When i take a couple of ibprofen it goes down but it doesnt stay down yet so it will be next week probably before it gets fully healed up. steve

Yeah that T4 had the sparky in it and only about 25 hrs on a fresh packing. I'll have to see what db it was hitting and report back. For what he paid I'm sure he remembers, lol.

I had the same issue. on my 300ex( FMF Powercore 4), the muffler broke off the header twice. On my 400ex (FMF Powercore 4), the muffler broke off the header three times. Its welded on for good now. Ive seen many of these cases... other than that, they make some good quality products.

does that exhaust just come with the muffle or the WHOLE exhaust?

just the slip but it will fit the powerbomb which would make it even quieter with the bomb. it is supposed to be a great header! steve
