well i would think a good quality 2 stroke mix would do it

yamalube 2r

or

castor 927

at a 32:1 ratio mix would seen just right

those old bikes may be 20:1. but with modern pre-mix he may have to go to 32:1 or as lean as 50:1.

also, does it have an oil injection system?

best bet is to find a forum for those old school 2-strokers and get all the info you need.

i love those old two stroke bikes. got a pic?

Ya i would run castor 927 but thats personal preference it might not be as good for the older 2 strokes but i ran it in my 86 cr500 the book told me runn it at 20:1 witch seemed like it would b rich so i was runnin it 32:1

either 32:1 or 40:1 is good

it USED to have oil injection but we thought it was unreliable so we just unhooked it and ran it. the problemis he unhooked it 33 years ago and the bike sat 30 years in the back of our garage. and he cant remember what they used to mix the gas and oil at. we got the bike running last year on a new set of points and 3 good kicks. then the timing key sheared, thats a treat to find one for that old of a bike. lol
im trying to get a pic but my camera is being retarded so i cant get one yet maybe never IDK

Back when I used to have my 74 DT360, I frequented http://www.yamahaenduro.com, there's a lot of knowledgable people over there

When in doubt, use Amsoil Saber.

It contains enough lube for anything I can think of at 100:1... even a chainsaw...

That sounds insane, but it is true. It's synthetic and contains more lubricant and less solvent thinners.

If it scares you, mix a gallon at a time. Start at like 3 or 4 ounces to a gallon if you are that scared. 4 ounces would be 32:1 and 3 ounces would be a bit over 42:1.

In contrast, I mix it at 80:1... 8 oz to 5 gallons, and I run it in everything with great results... from the power tools that call for 20:1 etc... all the way up to my liquid cooled 400cc.

I like 100:1 a little better. 80:1 is just less complicated. I buy it by the 32oz bottle, and just split it into four equal 8 oz portions. Easier than splitting into five 6.4 oz portions.

2-stroke's, and 2-stroke oils have came a long way. Back in the day, they didn't even have a special oil for 2-strokes. They literally just mixed 30 weight motor oil in the gas, at a mixture around 20:1.

Oils have came so far. Now you can run a quality 2-stroke oil at 32:1, or 40:1. Hell, even 50:1, but I don't recommend it.

Another thing to remember, the reason a lot of outboards are 50:1 or greater, is fuel consumption. Generally outboard premix is a little lighter weight (less syrupy) and run at a lower mixture, because they burn so much gas that the same amount of oil gets in the cylinder/crank case anyway.

So ditch the outboard oil, and pick up some quality 2-stroke and run it at 32:1 (Always a safe bet)
I recommend Castor 927, Klotz, and Super M. I used to LOVE Mobile1 synthetic but they no longer make it..
