well i keep seeing these 300exs with long a-arms and shocks, and i am wondering why dont you do that instead of these shock mounts other people are doing? is there a bad side to haveing your shocks on angle, then a little straighter? I would like to know, here is a pic to show u waht i mean

people get those mounts when using 400ex shocks, and btw, what kinda motor is in that 300ex

its speed bumps....350x conversion

Ya, thats a 350X motor with a modded 400EX exaust. The reason people get the shock mount is to retain the geometry of the 400ex/250R. When you put the 400ex a-arms on the 300ex and use the 400ex/250r shocks without the shockmount, it makes the front end sit up high and the a-arms are at an extreme angle. When you ride the quad like this it wont handle that good, you will notice alot of push in the front end. When you use the shock mount the handling feels great, because the front end isnt so high and the tires are getting more traction, so the front end isnt pushing in the corners. Speedbumps looks like it doesnt have much push in the front end because he used 250R shocks, the 250R shocks are shorter then the 400 shocks.

Here is a 300ex with 400ex a-arms and 400ex shocks with no shock mount -

notice how the a-arms are at an angle and the front end sits up high, that will cause the front end to push in the corners-

I've been wantin to try it but i already bought works are they just as good as the 400ex shocks or would I still have to make the shock mount

can u jsut get 300ex longer a-arms, like long long a-arms, and use the 300ex shock mounts so the quad doesnt sit to high?

See how the a-arms are at the proper angle. That is why i made shockmounts. I didn't have shockmounts for a while and the handling sucked.

My quad looks a little different now though.....because i put 400ex shocks on it and 20" razrs on the rear.

If you get 400 a-arms, you can use custom built works shocks and you wont need the mount. The shocks have to 14.75 inches long.

Ya, get some +2's for it, and then get some shocks for them.

its only about 2-21/2 inches higher, here is a pic of mine with the mounts, the plastic is off to show the mounts better, and it sits at a great level.:D

Is there a company that makes these shock mounts for the conversion or did you guys have to custom make one? Thanks.

....i have the 400ex arms on mine, but i havn't put the 400ex shocks on yet. (lot of work to do before i ride).the frame sits at 6 inches...(i think thats at the lower, rear front, shock mount.
i rode it around the yard, and man it was so smooth....i took it through a bulldozer's tracks to see how it felt...i didn't feel $hit
i know not to jump it with these on, but when i get my engine in shape and start doin' a little drag racin, or flat track...i will deffinatly remount the 300ex's shocks....

someone tell me about this raptor rear shock convertion..
whats the cons in dong so,..i have a 96 300ex, with an 2000 model swingarm,...will it work?..what year rapturd do i need to get the rear shock off of?...any mods to be done or do i just bolt on and go?..is it longer?, shorter?

QUESTION....whats a good way to fabricate my own rear lowering kit...i'm thinking 2 inches would be nice.
(for when i run the 300ex fronts with the 400ex arms)
_____TOBY300EX__you make the front upper mounts right?.....at your house?...do me a favor, go out and make a few messurments, for a rear lowering kit, and let me know what you come up with.
also, how high is your frame, at the rear front, lower shock mount? i'm at 6 with the 300ex's shocks, i think it was 9 1/2 stock,
so i'm guessing your mount will put it back at 9 1/2 with the 400ex front end?...if i order one from you, can you make it either 9 inches, or 8 1/2 maybe...i like it low and wide....what are the cons of doing this?.im guessing it'll make it stick the corner's even better...

The front end sits just a tad bit lower than stock. As for the rear mount, i would have no clue how to do that, i dont know how they are usually made.:confused2

You need a 2001 Raptor rear shock, it bolts right up to your 300ex. If you weigh under 200lbs then get a 400ex rear shock spring put it on ur raptor shock, but if you weigh over 200lbs then u should be fine with the raptor spring. The reason you can only use the 2001 shock is because it has a remote rezzie and the 02, 03, has a piggy back and it wont fit on ur 300ex. Heres a pic of mine -
