I've been asked to race oval track by the guy who built my raptor motor...I've never raced anything before and I really want to give this a try...can someone give me a quick lesson in dirty oval racing? they range from 1/4 to 1/3 mile track and I'll be on a methenol powered raptor...thanks

Hang off the side of the quad, grip the bars as tight as you can, open the throttle as wide as possible and hold on for grim death:devil:

get the ride height down low around 4.5" to 5". add a swaybar and flattrack tires. For an oval you can preload either your front left or front right shock to move weight around.

Turn left, hard.. try to slide the back end into corners and keep it pinned. Hang off the side as far as possible, or just get comfy on the nerf bar:devil:

okay well I've been watching some on youtube and the racers never look side to side or behind them (oval, cross country or MX) how do you guys know where everyone is around you when your in a pack of guys? can you hear them or do you just hope they are watching out for you?

Think of them as mini sprint cars without a roll cage.

That was one of the strangest quad wrecks I have ever seen. The quad that got hit tore apart like an Indy car.

When ya get there, find a Pro rider (pro am) and ask them what they run for air. Run a bit softer in the left rear and stiffen teh right front shock a bit more the the left front. Then... GRIP IT AND RIP IT!!! Make sure ya warm your tires up at the line (smokem off a bit). Don't go out in practice and expect it to hold WFO going into the corner either. IT WONT!!! First few laps on a track are always the worse so watch for slick spots in the turns.

Oh yea, I agree with NOT dioing what that guy did... He had no patiance and got hammered... TAKE YOUR TIME ON THE FIRST LAP

If they're behind you then its just up to them to stay out of your swingarm and rear end. If they're beside you, I hope your nickname is DK and you know how to ride..
