450 Electrical Issue (Its posessed!)

05 450 hard start when cold. bump starts ok but not with button. actually all the time but worse when cold. changed battery, starter, flywheel, regulator, (**** that shouldnt even have to do with problem just because) etc. etc. just started swapping parts with an 07 to see what was going on. finally, swapped cdi with the 07 and she fires right up. ok, got an aftermarket cdi that supposed to fit 04-08 and back to no/hard start. put 07 cdi back in, fires right up. so far, 5 different cdi's have been in bike and only the one from the other guys 07 works. haven't gotten new yamaha 07 to try but afraid because electrical parts are not returnable.

any thoughts?

my friend had a problem similar to this... took him literally months to figure it out... turned out to be a small sensor/switch that is right where the shifter is on the case... im pretty sure its a cheap part to

Any idea what that switch is?

off the top of my head im pretty sure it was called something like a neutral safety switch id have to talk to him to be 100% sure... but he's had to replace his twice now

its the neutral switch assembly its around 35$
