Well, I've been asked by many to re-do and update the compatiblity chart. I've got a good start on it. I've also added the differences bw the TRX years.

I also want to add what's interchangeable from CR's and/or CRF's, that you've all had experience with.

for instance, 84 CR cylinder ATAC is a nice bolt on upgrade to stock 85/86 jugs... etc... 01 CR iginition...

Please list those things in this thread and I will add them to the spreadsheet.

P.S. I realize I could do a few searches and come up with the majority of the information... I've already spent more time on this than I would like. If noone replies, I'll leave the information out.

Also, if you could think of anymore items to add to the compatibility spreadsheet... Answers to common questions etc... just let me know...

84/85 CR250 Cylinders will both work.

Certain years of CR250 Heads will bolt up to the stock jug (Ask ALL250R on this)

i didnt see anything about front rotors before but i THINK 88-89 250r are same as 400ex 450r's.

CR500 main bearings are the same part numbers as 88 and 89 mains, and a drop in upgrade to 86 and 87

The front rotors for the 250R, 400EX, and 450R are all the same.

you can double up on the base gasket to change port timing along with the thin head gasket "cheap port job".

Not sure how you could include this, maybe in a separate section on rear ends/swingarms, but when I was putting mine together, there was a lot of contradicting information on this forum regarding no-links on stock frames. I finally have mine all together, and it uses a Roll Design DC3 No-link Swingarm with a 15.25-15.5" shock. I confirmed this is correct with Doug Roll. Also, just for added information, the DC3 straight and gullwing swingarms are exactly the same geometry with the same mounting locations, and both can be used on a stock frame or a Lobo frame.

I will add anything you all want. Just let me know in this thread.

FYI
400ex front hubs will NOT fit on 250r spindles. The tapers are a different size.

I was under the impression that if you run 400EX hubs, you have to run 400 EX spindles, same with 450r but if you run 04/05 hubs you have to run 04/05 spindles too. The hubs and spindles are a package can't run one without the matching spindles... FYI.

control arm bushings? I know 86 is different from 87-89.

How about aftermarket, are they the same as 87-89?

I've got some lonestar a-arms that I can't find any bushings for

Did you try All Balls? I've also found bushings at McMaster Carr. Just measure them up and spec out your own. Cheaper and just as easy.

It would be helpful to have a list of all the little things that are interchangable between the years. Stock items like brackets, mounts, bearings, bushings, etc.

This would help those of us who have aquired a pile of random parts over the years and can't remember what year they are from.

It would also be useful when we see an item on ebay that came off a certain year to know it will fit other years.

I agree but I don't know what all the little things that cross over the years. I'd be more than happy to add that to the list.

I might have to, i got an email back from lonestar and they said their bushings are proprietary and different from 86 and 87-89.

I'll measure the arms monday at work with some bore gauges and post up some links to bushings if I can find the right size

That's eactly what I'd say too if I was them... get someone to spend 4x what they should cost for standard bearings. Houser says the same thing but their bearings are off the shelf stuff that I found, same exact supplier and part number... They think they're smarter than everyone else... I call BS.. Just just grab a snap gauge and micrometer and measure the ID of the aarm and the ID/OD of the bearing and bushing, also measure the length then we can find bearings for you.

I guarantee they don't use "proprietary" bearings cause I know exactly how much that costs.. been there done that... its expensive especially with "low volume sales"... i.e. less than 10,000 per year. Goodluck finding someone to make special bearings too...

Rule of thumb: Press fit bearings should be oversized, 0.001" per inch of OD. So a 1/2" hole's bearing should have a 0.0005" pressfit to fit properly, similar with clearance hole or (slop)...

Goodluck, =>here if you need help.

I measured the ID on the lonestar arms, approx 0.765". I found some bushings here at work that may do the job. They're a little long so I'll post an update with all the measurements of the finished bushing after they go on the lathe

NOt directly no. But could be modified to work. There was a thread where someone modified Tusk heel guards from RMATV and got them too work without a whole lot of modifications...

How about the stock ones.........I have an Arens frame. I wonder how much work would it take??

try it and post back what you find out. There is no real clear step by steps on this one, that I've seen. You can get cheap stock heel guards... for like 10 bucks... I wonder about some other bikes like KFX or LTR, Z400 etc... some of those the frames are based largely on the 250r frame...

Best bet is going to be something like IMS or Rath, that the heel guards are separate from the nerfs.

I know the stock 400ex heelguards are pretty close to fitting the 250
