Just sold my kawi and bought a 2009 ds450mx. I got approved for the amature program. Will i know forsure if the clutch needs to go in for a recall? And when my motoworks slip on and FMI come in it doesnt explain if i take the airbox lid off, cut the pink wire, and where to mount it. Thanks for any info you can give me.

If the clutch squeels when you take off you will need the update. (not a recall).
Take your airbox lid off, cut the pink wire and replace the stock ecm with the race ecm (dealer has to program it)
Are you racing in Antler lake next month?

Do not ride it before you check to see if the engine numbers fall within the clutch update guidelines. If they do, get it updated immediately.

As far as the Race ECU goes, it does not need to be programmed to work. They tell you to take it in simply so you have the old one for the dealer to take in as trade. (it's a way of getting you to come back in) All you really need to do is plug it in and go.

Good luck.

The 2009-9 is what you’re looking for here it is:

Update does not fix the prob, lots of clutches still exploding from a poorly designed basket, BCS makes a billet and does a cover and hub mod I recommend.

Ours lasted around 35 hours until this, others see less some see more some never have a prob no telling when…..

Yeah they give you a race ECM(that does not have "limp mode" that shuts part of the motor off when it gets hot)...you take your old one to the dealer they send(flash) the history(VIN, setting's, codes, etc)info from the old to the new race ECM...The FMI is a seperate unit that controls fuel to the injector instead of the ECM...it's not the best there are better ones like PC 5 on the market, not sure but beleive with it does not matter if the pink is cut there is a MAP in it that over rides the ECM. You might ask MW's since some companies set thier MAPS to run pink others don't.

Don't know about the rest of your questions..
