i have noticed that my upper frame rails are cracked. the ones that the engine mounts bolt too. an my question is ive seen some bikes with the steel tubing and was wondering if that would be stronger or if its a better way to go. if so where can i get myself a set.
thanks

if they are steel any one can make them. and the cost is dirt cheap.

theres no way the regular joe can fab aluminum.

if your frame rails are crack. your frame is gone.

pics can help alot. once your frame is flexing in one area the whole frame gets out of whack and its too late,

thats why when people replace parts they break again.

i love the ds motor and how it runs but the frame is garbage.

can am better come up with something better.

its only 2 years and the frames are not holding up.

i am almost done with my steel frame prototype and not i did not need a stupid computer to tell me how to make it.

I wouldn't call the frame scrap just yet.....lol!

Those can be replaced with same gage steel or little (.010-.020) heavier al if you can find it, rectangular bar stock online, standard extrusions, try a local metal fab house, or BRP is fine since they are not always failing. Be carefull not to oversize holes especially in the casting and use red loc tite grade A steel bolts same diameter of the loc-bolts removed.

i ride for rudy gonzales from DFR and he was the epic can-am crew chief for2008 and he told me that the steel frame rails arnt any stronger they only have them on the factory bikes so they can run different gas tanks and they didnt want to bend aluminum to fit the different tank.

We may be able to repair your cracks if you post a pic I can help....maybe some AL doublers might be best way to go since BRP made some frame areas too thin to take large loads.
