05 f250 6.0 fuel programmer

i have a 05 f250 crew cab lariat fx4 im thinking about selling it and getting a 05 06 mustang because of fuel and im going back to school my payments are 468 my payments on the mustang will be like 360...im looking at some of the fuel programmers to maybe get me some better mpg and possibly just keep it ive had it up for sale for awhile and no body wants to come off the money my pay off is 22,700 if i trade it in im only gonna get 21k tops so id have to pay the difference im getting about 15 city 19-21 hwy if im lucky what do yall think...and has anyone tried the fuel programmers and please tell me how its helped yall...p.s. the truck is in EXCELLENT condition guess just waiting to find the right person it only has 80k and still under warranty

This is no way trying to steal your thread but I am also curious about the "programers" or "chips" for better fuel mileage. But for a gas burner.

If your lookin for fuel mileage Banks is probly your best bet. They seem to have pretty good economy programmers. Now if you want power go with SCT:macho I have a 02 7.3 with a Edge Juice with attitude and Im gettin about 19 around town. As for a gas programmer theres nothing really worth wild out there. I picked up about 1mpg on my 6.0L Vortec with a Bully Dog.

is yours 4x4? and shouldnt the 6.0s get better mpg than the 7.3? you running stock tires?

It's a 4wd Ford Excursion with stock tires. Ur 6.0 should probly get better mpg with that egr

SCT with custom tunes, get the extreme race from Innovative Diesel. If you can keep your foot out of it you'll see 1-2, maybe 3 mpg gain.

its hard to say if it will give you better MPG most tunes now are for more power and the MPG gain isn't that great. i run custom tunes on my 7.3l and get better milage on stock tunes than on any of the performance tunes. usually each truck acts differently on MPG with tunes so it could be a hit or miss. but do not do not get custom tunes on your 6.0 . sounds like you have enough debt anyway with payoff and im sure you don't want to blow the head gaskets and have to get that fixed you will be in some money trouble then. honestly your MPG sounds pretty good for the truck but if you want a MPG tune check out the tunes specifically built for MPG. i think there is one by hypermax if im not mistakin. banks would prob be ok but everything is over priced. get an exhaust and see if that will help better

Join a diesel forum. You wont get people suggesting banks products to you for one.

SCT with custom tunes is the ONLY programmer you should look at for a 6.0

Secondly, don't mod for mileage, because you'll be disappointed. Always mod for power and if you get some mileage, be happy.

If you're gettin 21mpg highway with it now, dont ever sell it because I've never seen another 6.0 anywhere ever do that.:rolleyes:


Show me the dealer that's gonna give you 21,000 on trade in for an 05 with 80k on the clock already. It isn't happening, sorry. If you can, trade it now.
