For what it is, I'd say it's priced about right.

If you bought a decent stock machine and re-did it, you'd have at least that into it.

Stock machine - $2k
New OEM plastic - $1K
New Crank - $300
PT pipe - $400
Powdercoat - $275
V-force reeds - $125
450R shocks - $200
Axle - $200+
A-arms $200
Nerfs $200
Skid plate $100
Bumper - $75

You get the idea.

ya like the others said its not to bad, i have been working on my 88 build and it wont be as nice as that but it will have more aftermarket item though, but i thought i got a steal for a not so perfect 88 for 1250 haa and i am buying mostly used item to save cash and i will have more than that in it..

bike 1250
resto frame. 200
chrome +2 a arms. 300
ohlins. 250
bumpers. 125
+1 stem. 125
new maier plastic. 600
decals. 100
all new pivit works bearings 200+
wheels tires. 500
x-33 axle 200
oem honda item gromets sliders lil things etc. 250+

haa the list goes on and on, plus i didnt touch the motor yet and i still need seat foam and cover. rear shock, a pipe and silencer. and some other bigger items.. and not to mention tons and tons of time and work into it!!!!!!, i would have been way way better off buying a complete done nice and tight clean bike for 4-5000

i dont under stand how its apples to apples, im not trying to be rude, you have the after market chassis arms most of them are LT so then you have the motor and all the other random things... i just think that the race quad would be worth more then this...

I'll splain it then.

You are talking about 2 completely different things.

A complete race quad can be bought for $4500-$5000 but that is a used usually beat condition, by the time you get it back to restored quality like this, you will have $10-$15K into it, so it's not the same price.

Also, a complete aftermarket quad is way overpriced to begin with so the value depreciates more. Something like the quad shown will likely not lose more than $1000 in overall value, however a "RACE" quad by nature gets beat on and worn faster thus loses more so even after putting $15K into it, you will likely only ever get $4500-5K back out.

It's the same as a quad I saw recently for sale for $14K - completely stock restoration - like new 250R. Will he get that, maybe not, but it will still hold value and when the economy is good and he finds the right buyer it can sell for that.

Stock vs Aftermarket unfortunately has no comparison.

I think the price is a good. You would pay $1500 for those fenders with the hood (if you could find some).

250Renvy feels the same way as I do. I would sell my complete laeger mx quad cheaper then my bone stock 86' . The day I do have to sell any of them the built mx ones go first. anyone can find a nice aftermarket chassis quad but the good restored ones rare.

wow 1700 for the plastic is that correct.
i no the hood is worth 300 or so.. i sold one on ebay for385 but is the back and front fenders worth more or less.
i have a 87 with factory red plastics and hood with light but the light has a crack rite on the left of lens . but still yet the fenders are near perfect . even has that black ram looking thing under the hood .
i was curious iof so i might part the whole thing out

if i didn't already have my 88 i would consider it. 4,500 obo for it or 7,000 plus for a new 450? then if you do comparitive mods to the 450 then how much would you have in it or even if the 450 is used you would have more than that in it. Before the economy changed people where paying that and more for ones with less and not as nice! hum! wonder why our economy fell?::rolleyes:

This post is already too long but I can't help it. I'm going to go with it not being worth 4500.00. Reason being it is not stock original. Really not at all. It has alot of small aftermarket parts that still make it "look" stockish but are technically upgrades. However like others have said aftermarket parts dont bring the value of this bike up. If you want really good money for an R it needs to be Original or a really clean full blown race bike. In the end the two are probably both worth about the same.

mine is for sale for 4200 and it is 10 times what that quad is and 10 times nicer.. replaced everything from bearings to rebuilding the stock throttle assembly. i think its over priced..
