I would imageine shampooing the carpet would help out quite a bit.

Shampoo the carpet and buy this febreeze like stuff (its better) called renuzit or renew iirc, it works.

Find a detailing shop that has an ozone machine.

Cha-ching.

If not, plan on spending a lot of time pulling carpets and shampooing.

Steam clean the carpet, headliner and seats...

Then spray the inside down with Ozium, Febreze, or Oust.

Keep plenty of air freshners in the car and ride with the windows down when its convenient.

Eventually the smell with come out.. My truck still has a little bit of a cigarette odor, but its fading little by little every day..

i got a car back in january that just wreaked of cigarette smell.. i have tried everything and it's mostly gone now. one thing that really helped was spreading an entire box of baking soda on all the carpet and vacuuming it up. then clean every single seat and interior panel. when this is all done, steam clean it. take the seats out and clean under them if you can.

get a bag of charcoal cut it open and lay it on the front seat for a few days, it will pull the smell out (yes this really does work) Make sure all the windows are up

I'd rather have it smell like pot than cigs, old people, puke, or those nasty black and milds, grease, exhaust fumes etc.

I've heard of that charcoal thing before but never tried it.

Best thing is to vacuum the hell out of it. wipe down all of the plastic or vinyl interior, clean windows and if need be shampoo the carpets. I never thought shampooing or stem cleaning the cieling liner was a good idea since it uses fabric glue to hold it in place.

It's not, unless you want to go get a new headliner. Ask me how I know.

Im tellin ya man, the vinegar works the best. The charcoal works a little too. Ive got some baddd smells out of my car with the help of vinegar rags. You put them in a tupperware with the lid off and set them in the areas where it smells the worst, then roll the windows up and let them sit in there for a while (i left mine in there for a day). When you take them out the cars gonna smell like vinegar for a little while but if you ride around with the windows down that smell goes away and your good as new. Then follow up with those glade car fresheners that you put on the air vents, theyre the bomb haha.

chlorine bomb it!

no, really. i work in a detail shop and we use these things that take less than 2 hours and work twice as good as the ozone machine. I'll get more info on it tomorrow when i go into work.

They only cost about 15 bucks and you just leave it in a cup in your cupholder for a few hours and itll neutralize all the odors in your car.
