Im just looking for a guess on my bikes horse power. i dont race and i probably wont mod any further. Just curious. 04 400ex, stage 2 hotcams, lexx slip on, no lid on air box. i know its not much for mods but what have similar quads put down on the dyno? This bike is around 28-29 hp stock right? Thanks

i seen 26 on the dyno. you will need to do alot more to get 35 hp out of a 400ex engine. i had a 435cc hi comp bike with cam, port work, carb and much more and got 32 torque and 34hp. it was tuned perfect.

You’ll be lucky if you have 30 hp. The slip on is the most expensive mod that yields the least hp. The best slip on is only worth maybe a 2 hp gain. And with the air box open you can add maybe 1 more for a total of a 3 hp gain.

Mine runs 35.4 hp with 406 hi-comp piston, stage 2 cam, port and polish, Rocket slip on, K&N filter.

I think you'd be lucky to get better than 30. You want power? you gotta spend $$$.

ya, money is something i dont have to spend at the moment. I think ill just save up and get a 450 later on if i need to go faster. my 400 will work for now though.
I used to have a stroker banshee that could destroy 450s. But it blew up. was a fun bike(in a straight line:) )

Sorry for jacking your thread but what do you think mine will do? I'll be running 93 pump. And which of the 2 slipons do y'all think i should use?
P&P Head
Hotcams Stage 2 cam
Wiseco 11/1 416 with base gasket elminated and xr400 headgasket
FMF Powerbomb Header w/lrd slipon or FMF Powercore 4
Insane Performance Airbox w/K&N Filter and outerwear
05 450r carb with hotstart blocked
Amr Revbox

sometimes your barely changing the horsepower. the powercurve will change with mods more than anything. it takes alot of work and money to get good numbers out of a 4 stroke. espically an air cooled one.
