250X timing

Im working on a 1987 250X. All the 300EXs ive worked with had 2 lines on the cam gear that needed to be lined up level with the top of the head. This one only has 1 line. To get the lobes to point down when its on TDC this 1 line has to be pointing straight up. Does this sound right????

sounds right to me. You could be 180 off but I would say you are correct.

Are you sure the gear isn't on there backwards?
