They are prone to seizing up. Some people say that it's not needed. But when you stall the motor during a 2 hour, 80+ temp race, it becomes a necessity. Especially when you have a train of anger XC racers behind you.:p

I believe you also have to remove it from the 04/05 carbs in order to install it on a 400ex.

Yes, the FCR's on the e-starts can be drilled to accept it. It involves drilling a hole from the top of the carb, down through the venturi. I've known people to do it themselves, but I would feel more comfortable sending it to someone that has the tools to do it. Most of the big engine builders can do it.

Or use a MX style FCR carb. They have the hot start.

make sure the other rider does not have a helment on before hitting him. you might break your hand. lol
