Well guys i traded my banshee for a 2005 450r. has legars +2 a arms elka shocks up front, houser stem, g force axel pro circuit exhaust and a 13.5 to1 wiesco piston with a stage 2 cam.

Now I went riding today with a buddy that has an 06 z400 with a yoshi exhaust and a big gun rev box i couldnt believe how well he was keeping up with me on wide open roads. I could only get about 1 to 2 lenghts on him on low end and if we took off from top end i could barley nose past him. Im not looking for a drag race wheeler but hell i thought i would be able to walk all over a 400z.

Now my question is what should the compression be at in this bike with the high compression wiesco piston?

And what are some comon issuse I should be loking for or keep in the back of my mind.

Thanks guys. And man it it great to be back on a 4 stroke!!!

something aint right cause a stock 450 will walk all over a modded 400 4 stroke unless its fully built bored and or stroked. I can fly past my brothers 400ex when its topped out and still have a gear to go and same with a buddies z400. Is it jetted correctly?

im going to check te jetting today. I got it from a guy that was at sea level. I Am about 500 ft above. I am pretty sure that the jetting is off.

Thoes of you with arround my sea level what jets are you running. I will probably call pro circuit today and see what they say.

Also will have some pics posted tody

thanks

it sounds like you have problems bigger than poor jetting. i just don't see it being that far off where it is bringing your performance level down to that of a Z400. IMO, even a poorly jetted stock 450R should still walk all over a Z400 let alone one that has a cam, pipe and 13.5:1 piston.

i couldn't believe how underpowered the Z400 was when i rode one. i just don't see how ANY R could even be in the same ball park on it's worst day.

well my other buddy has a 2008 honda 450 an i was amazed at how well this z400 ran with that. When we raced it took untill 4th gear with the 2008 to get awayfrom the z400 then it only pulled a few lenghts. I dont knnow im hoping its a combination of tires and jetting. I have 20 in + 21 in I razor radials on the bike now and im guessing they are pretty heavy.

Also with the stage 2 hot cam should the engine make a crazy widing noise. I mean the bike is quick and runs great i cant imigine anything beeing too off with it.

you might want to adjust your sprockets for gearing

Well today I called hot cams today and they said that the cam should not be as loud as it is. I was told that is a good possibility that the berring on the cam is going. So I guess I am going to buy an $11 berring and see if that helps.

Any other reason that the engine would make a loud winding noise?
