what cylinder is this and whats up with the cases? was it all made by esr for a sprint car or what? could you make a gearless trans work in a drag 250r. that would be very ideal.. like a full blown 370 or a puma etc.. does it work like a snowmobile or what? never seen anything like it..

It's from a Honda CR 250 dirt bike.

will it fit in the r frame? is it worth buying?

I dont know if it would be a direct bolt in, but you could make it fit for sure. But remember dirt bike motors are not counterbalanced, so the vibrate a lot more than a trx motor. the cradle that you are seeing on the motor is just a stand to hold the motor.

ok but what about the gearless trans, i just think that would be an awsome set-up for a drag machine, the less you have to shift the way faster your times will be... some of the fastest street cars around run a good old 2-speed powerglide trans because theres only one shift which makes them faster and very consistant. but you must have lots of power which i am sure it will be the same case with a r.

it says clutchless- if it was in a mini sprint the car would be pust started- i would imagain they dont have the thow-out parts connected to disengage the preasure plate.

also the guy above is corrent the cr250r motors were not counter ballanced. If you wana drag slip a cr500 motor in a 250r chassis.

I think service hona used a 01 cr250r motor in the 400ex chassis- and im pretty sure they still sell them.

They still have a clutch basket and hub they just build an insert to replace the clutches so it direct drive they push start them all the time they run in 3rd gear wide open some people just leave the clutch pack in there and never hook up a cable
