So does this thing replace the screw that is in there now or is it a tool to fit the weird head it has stock? I've seen several of these in catalogs but never sure of what they do.

Yes this replaces the stock pilot screw. You can then adjust it anytime without tools. I've been usin em for years. Pretty handy. Lately I've noticed a few carb tweakin threads on here, This surely helps.

Nice...

Only thing that would be nicer is one with a spring cable thing sorta like the idle speed.

This pilot screw is such a PITA to get to.

And once it is hot enough to actually adjust... wow, gotta have some gloves.

I have been getting in there with gloves and a craftsman bit ratchet.
