Will a BlingStar polished rear grab bar for a 06-09 450r fit my 01 400ex??

Not without modifying it.
If theres one thing I would love Honda to change with the 400, it would be a removable grab bar. Unless you make yours removable, you'll have to settle for a clamp on type grab bar

what kind of modifications are we talking here? welding new brackets onto the frame, cutting the existing grab bar off, or just bending the bracket on the 450r bar?

Cutting off your current "grab bar" and making some sort of bracket to use a bolt on grab bar. The 400's dont have a grab bar so to speak its your entire sub frame is all one piece.

Ok, thanks. i just havn't really taken a close look at the stock grab bar yet. i saw a bligstar polished grab bar on kijiji.ca which is only about 20 minute drive and hes asking $50 for it, brand new.
didn't want to go buy it and it not fit, thats all.
