Just a little update for you guys. Found out after i got the motor someone had ran it a little dirty. Tim@Titan Racing http://www.titanracinginc.com/ has it now. Come to find out also, the piston was barely hitting the head. Tim is going to relieve the head just a bit. He is also in the process of installing a new piston so i can get rid of the spacer plate. After he is done with it, he assures me it will be even a hotter little motor!! Talkin with Tim about motor setups makes me feel a little dumb, i guess you could say! He knows his stuff! Maybe the next update will be some videos of me spanking them 4-strokes!!!

i knew he'd get you pointed in the right direction with it. arent you glad i sugeested you carry it too him as i didnt have a warm and fuzzy with what i saw. should be an arm rpper for sure.

any idea as to when your getting it back? lol because i have a couple cylinders that i dropped of that are in line, behind yours. :D

Yeah im glad i took it down there. When i get it back, i will know its ready to go for sure! Tim says he is getting caught up on work, so hopefully i will get it back in the next couple weeks.

Randy,
You gona talk to Tim any time soon.
Sounds like somebody been in that engine for sure & left out a gasket or something, cause it should have had right at 0.040 squish on the head.

You can build an engine, but once it leaves, you got no control after that unless its riding in your trailer.

more than likely talk to him this friday. i've got a couple things i need to check on and i'll talk to him about the engine. i agree, ya never know what the next feller has in store once an engine leaves the shop. theres just no telling as its changed hands atleast three times since the build.

i'm curious to know myself as i didnt have a warn n fuzzy and something didnt seem right when wayne brought it by.

Went and picked up my swingarm from Deaf Man Chassis today. Chris done an awesome job on it!

Still waiting on my motor from Tim. It should be done next week.

07-10-2010, 06:20 PM
Neil:

On this 310R x +6 mil stroker, how is it set up?

Does the piston uncover the exhaust port at TDC?

How thick is the spacer plate?

Does the piston come below the bottom of the exhaust port at BDC?

How much does the piston stick out the top of the sleeve/cylinder at TDC?

What kind of timing does the transfers & exhaust have?

Standard Honda-Wiseco-Pro-X piston?

Standard Honda rod? Short or Long?

Having one built very similar, curious as how you put this one together...

Thanks neil ahead of time for all your help!

C.

Im building it just to play around on. But yeah they are people really close that does everything. Tim at Titan does awesome motor work. Deaf Man does chassis and Combs does powdercoating. They all live within miles of each other. Im going to have Combs PC my swinger. From what i heard he does really good work.

Give you a little tip because of that TRX11 pipe,
alway have on a mx boot when cranking & make sure your foot is placed right on the kicker each & every time you go to kick it.
Ol TRX11, 245 lbs of compression in a 350 & tennis shoes turned me into gimp a few weeks after the kicker kicked back. Crutches aint no fun.

Tennis shoe got me along with how I was holding my foot on the kicker.
That TRX11 is so big, you got to turn your foot to the side just a bit on the kicker to keep from scratching the chrome, so you dont have a good grip or cant get a good stab at the kicker because you use the front of your foot.

I finally got it fired up. Still have a few things to do before i can see how she runs, chain, brakes, etc. Of course had problems with the air box eliminator. I might have to try a cr boot or a UPP one. But i think she turned out looking pretty good.

I actually thought about taking the stickers off, but wasnt for sure if it would look good. The seat cover thats on it now was a lucky find. There is a atv salvage yard about 45 miles from my house that i decided to pay a visit to one day just to see what they had. Well in their main office they had that seat, which had a brand new seat pan, foam, and cover. They didnt have a clue what it fit, but i knew exactly what it did.;) So since they didnt know , they let me have the complete seat for 60 bucks. Which i thought was pretty good deal.:blah:

Well you was right Neil. After the kicker slapped my chin a few times, i learned you better have the ball of your foot on the kicker good! I did manage to get it started with my K-Swiss on.:D It might be a little rich but for break-in i suppose it will be alright. My brand new ESR silencer is leaking pretty good. It appears to be leaking around both ends of the canister and even out the rivets.

For right now my jetting with my 39PWK which has been bored, i think to 40.5, is 185 main, 60 pilot, 2 turns out on the screw. Am i in the ball park? I still havent rode it yet, but just wanna be pretty close when i do.

I finally took my silencer and filled the rivet holes, and both ends of the canister at the joints with some silicone. I put a bead around the joint and wiped off the excess. It stopped the leaks completely.

You really don't want to try to set the timing. You are already going to be advanced. Just make sure that adapter plate is turned as far counter-clockwise as it can go. I believe with this ignition, you're gonna be around 6-8* advanced ( I can't remember for sure)

And believe me, its gonna live up to its hype!!! Especially with that motor!!:D

Agreed, ESR has already set the timing. Only a few courageous guys drill out the pop rivets and change the timing.
