Does anyone know of a kit to rebuild the rear brake caliper?? i found the front ones... but no rear kits... I've burnt thru 2 pairs of brake pads within a 2 months... and i ride only a couple hours a week if that.. I'm thinking my caliper is frozen... so would like to replace the parts in it... i've read about it... not so hard to do... but i don't wanna spend over a 100 bucks for a new caliper... or can i use the front kits? i don't have my parking brake hooked up or anything..

Any ideas would be great... thanks...

Are you riding your brakes while you are driving?

I think they are basically the same but, upon looking at a microfiche, they seem to have some different part numbers.

Here are two links for the front and rear caliper.

You should be able to tell if there dragging if you put it on a stand and spin the wheels.
If you’re riding in sand it will eat them up pretty fast. I go through quite a few sets of rear pads a year. I don’t use the front brake as much as I should. If the corners are smooth I tend to use the rear breaks more. If the corners have breaking bumps going in I tend to go for the front brakes more. I know the stock pads I get at the dealer don’t last long at all. I just chalk it up to regular maintenance and the caust of ridding hard.

Try some penetrating oil and run the piston in and out a few times and see if it will loosen up some.

Well... i'm not riding my brakes at all... I use my fronts more then my rears.... I'll have to check the drag part of it later... just seems odd that i can eat up a set of pads in a day... really figured thye'd last longer then that.... and this was 95% trail riding.. almost no sand...

Swap over to the 450r rear setup.

You dont have to put it up on a stand... Just take it out for a 15 minute ride and be sure to keep your foot off the rear brake and only use fronts. After your 15 minute ride hop off and feel the rear brake rotor with the back of your fingers..if its hot they are dragging

Is it right that i have fluid being pushed out the parking brake side of the caliper??? i started taking it apart and before i unbolted the caliper from the mount plate i took the parking brake off and then dismounted the caliper and pumped the brakes to get the piston out.. but the piston stayed and the fluid pushed out the parking brake side... what's everyone thoughts???

Seals bad in the caliper if its pushing out the parking brake area.

I bought a new caliper and it did the same thing. I couldnt figure out where it was coming out of-pumped the pedal dozens of times and heard air hissing and saw a small bit of fluid. took my brake block off plate off and it had a ton of fluid trapped in there. I got a new one and no problems since.
