I have a bunch of older trike, dirtbike, and quad frames they are all pretty much trash. If I were to take them in to the scrap yard would I need the titles to them?

I would think if your state requires you to have titles for them to own them, you will need a title to scrap. I know Oregon does not require you to have a title for ATV's. Not sure about scapping them though. I know they are cracking down on scrapping because of all the tweekers steeling metal for meth! I would just call you local scap yard and ask them.

Yea, I was thinking the same thing we have a real problem around here with crackheads stealing stuff to scrap it.

I work at a Yamaha-Honda dealership during the summer, and last summer we cleaned out a bunch of old junk from the back room, we just cut the VIN numbers off of the frames with a torch and the scrap yard was glad to take them.

Just an update, I live in PA and I took them in this morning without the titles and they had no problem taking them.

Don't tell the tweakers that. They will be steeling and hauling our bikes across the country for a dime bag.

i was just wondering the other day if anyone else on this site scraps stuff for extra cash. I took a 1100 dollar load of steel friday and got prolly a 600 dollar load of steel and aluminum to take today. Easy money when you work on junk alot haha

Weird, steel prices are still rising for us. That means scrap prices are rising still. Usually steel follows suit all around the world. Asain mills are usually a bit lower but even now, they are pretty comparible to domestic. Especially when you add in freight.
Are you just saying that your scrap prices are falling?

if anybody has a titled atc250r or similar trike frame, I'll buy the title and the vin plate(or front neck) cut out. Same goes for trx250r's. I'm not interested in any other part of the fame. I need them for use with my custom framed projects.
