I woke up this morning and I had a hard time getting up. After a second I noticed I could not move my right arm. I stood up and it felt like it was completley dead.

I tried to get it to move for a minute of two and could'nt. I could ot feel anything either. It was like trying to move your ear but you cant no matter how hard you try.

I started to panic and ran thru the house to find my wife screaming like a banchee. (slept on the couch cause I have not slept in 4 days because of a bad ear infection)

Showed her she started to freak out and I was about to call 911. My fingers started to move slowley and a few seconds later I was able to move it some.

Then it started hurting very very bad. Like needled every where was being stuck in it.

The when the pain subsided it feels pretty normal. Just a little weak.

I think I might of slept on it and cut the circulation or pinched a nerve and caused it.

I have never had that happen to me before.

I also took some medication to help me sleep because of my lack of sleep this past week.

has this happened to you before?

It happens to me quite often, but never to the point that I can't move it. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Never to that extent! I usually wake up cuz it hurts. But since you were on sleeping meds you probably didn't notice. Does it still feel sore?

it feels fine now. I will never take any sleeping meds again. My DR. gave me a few ambeian to help me sleep. never again.

amy ear infection is over I think (still clogged but pain is gone)

So sleep should be much better now.

that happens to me all the time man. i sleep with my arm under my pillow all the time and at least once a week i wake up in the middle of the night and my arms completly dead. at first it freaked me out but its happened so many times now its like an everyday thing and i dont even worry about it. it just freaks me out at first because im half asleep and ill hop outta bed and my arm just flops around. and i thought i was the only one this happened too hahaha

just wait until you roll over and punch yourself in the face. LOL

thats always a fun way to wake up. mine goes to sleep all the time too, nothin to worry about. more annoying than anything.

I always thougt that when your arm went to sleep it just had that tingley feeling like needles everywhere. Not completley useless and numb.

I thought I had a stroke. I WENT THRU THE HOUSE SCREAMING I AM PARALZYED. I think I was about to go into shock.

My wife was actually starting to call 911.

What sucked was that it was my right arm to. I am right handed. That went thru my mind to in that short time period. how could I get around with just my left arm.

That was a helpless feeling.

you think that is scary. i went threw a phase, where when i woke up, my brain didnt connect back to my body (it really actually disconnets when you fall asleep) and i could look around but couldnt move or talk. you think your talking but no one can hear you. and the only way i could get my woman to move me around to actually "wake up" was to breath insanly hard to let her know what was going on.

omg that happened to me a few times too. I thought I was dreaming. I asked my DR about it and he said it was night terrors. He says it is because of my PTSD (got that from the war in iraq)

Man there was no moving to my hands it was beyond numb.

The only place that would move was my shoulder. I tried so hard but could not move my elbow, wrist or fingers.

by the way I have someone to take care of all of that stuff for me so no need to do that. lol

I can move my ear. :D

But I've had it happen to me before. Nothing to worry about, at least I don't.

Hey, if you ever need help sleeping, you should only take meletonin(spelling) your body naturaly produces it to help you sleep. It won't put you in a drug induced coma.

Your brain never disconnects from your body. If it did, you'd be in serious trouble.

the only reason I needed something to make me sleep was becasue of the pain. Had a severr ear infection. (still do just not so bad)

I went 3 days without any sleep at all.

And yes I laughed about it afterwards. But I am worried that it will happen again. That really scared me this morning.

I had some similar episodes a few years ago. It was like I woke up and forgot how to move my limbs. Like, not only could I not feel them, but I didn't know how to make my brain say "arm move" (if that makes sense.) I couldn't breath but I could still move my neck and head. I wound up using my chin and neck to pull myself over the edge of the bed, thus throwing myself into the floor and waking me up. It was horrifying to say the least. Thankfully it ended after a month or two. :huh

yea about a year ago i had this happen. my bed is right next to a wall and my arm was against the wall all night i had a dream that i broke my arm again and woke up and my arm wouldn't move. So i screamed omg my arm is broke and thought i was gonna cry then went back to bed on the opposite side. never had it happen since

Yeah I do it once every so often. When I wake up and try to roll over I have to literally pick my arm up and move it. Haha hope that never happens to both arms cause that'd really suck.

Same here as madskillz2...doesnt happen that often but weird when it does.

The wifes(before we were married) arm did it one night and she woke up and went beserk thinking someone was in bed with her! Her dad said it took 30 minutes to calm her down...and put her room back together LMAO!

It's called sleep paralysis. A lot of people have it happen to them a bunch. Everyone is scared beyond sane levels when it happens lol...

Basically your brain wakes up but your body stays asleep for up to a few minutes.

It's happened to me before, best thing to do is take a hammer and persuade it awake with a few hard smacks. That'll learn it to be a lazy dead arm on you! :p

I think I may have a form of sleep paralysis, but it only happens in my dreams. I will be dreaming I'm running for whatever reason, but no matter how hard I try to run fast, it's like there is something holding me back from running fast. It's some of the weirdest dreams I've had. 90% of the time, I'm trying to run. The other times, I'm riding, but it's like I can't go fast for the life of me.

I too have had this happen once and just tossed it aside and tried to get out of bed like that. lol. it was tough to say the least. steve

That happens to me but I'm always in a fight and I can't punch hard at all. It's like every time I punch it's in slow motion

Heck yea. But I got rid of the infection in my right. But I be danged if my left ear is starting to hurt and puss up. I am going to the DR first thing in the morning. The VA finally has a appointment for me. They are gonna put tubes in my ears when the infection. Very very small tubes on the ear drum surface. I have fluid build up behind them.

That is only a box of 4. I use atleast 15 of them a month. J/K Maybe 13.

I think I may of figured out why my arm done that the other day.

Well I had to sleep on the couch again last night becasue my other ear is hurting and I knew I could not sleep and I did not want to keep my wife awake.

I woke up this morning with both of my arms folded over the top of my head. Basically my shoulder were almost fully rotated.

I woked up with them in the same position. When I went to move I noticed that they both were extremely weak. I could feel them and move them but it was like they were starting to (well die like my right arm did the other day)

They still feel a little weird. I think I have narrowed down what may have caused me to get into that position. The VA gave me some medication for pain until they could see me. Persoet 10mg. The VA gives them out like candy (i hate taking them)

They make me sleep very hard and I dont feel nothing pain wise. So with my arms over my head like it cut the circulaton off and was in the process of killing them.

What yall think?

i think you have a few issues here lol. 1 it must suck to need 13 viagra! lol, 2 i think the circulation got cut off to your brain, and 3 your not going to kill them off without turning colors and stuff(make sure you take pics).

LOL We gotta get you well dude! you are losing your mind! lol. go to walmart and get some amoxicillin for fish and take 2 small ones at a time 3 times a day lol. it is the same stuff the doc prescribes and is cheap. it helps with infection and stuff.

really tho you should be careful, a guy i know woke up with weakness in his arms, it persisted got worse...found out he cracked a vertabre in his neck and was pushing on his spinal cord

Woke up in the middle of the night with a dead arm from my shoulder all the way to the tips of my fingers lol... It's not bad except for the burning sensation. You'd think your arm weighs 50 pounds though :p

Feels weird when the feeling starts slowing coming back into your arm and you can move it a little more every second haha

When I wake up with a dead arm I like to put it to use.
