Im pretty sure ive never heard of anyone using stock rear shocks off other quads but let us know what happens if you try it but my guess i would doubt it, just a guess.

yeah i dont think it will but my cousin has a YFZ 450 and im trying to talk him in to letting me try putting his shock on my wheeler to see if it works.

o and i found out that a YFZ 450 shock is 18 1/2 inches long does anyone know the eye to eye length of a stock Z shock?

i found out today that a LTZ 400 rear shock measures about 15.75 inches and the YFZ 450 shock is 18.5 inches...... i was thinking it may be because the YFZ shock compresses much more even with just the machines weight on it, compared to the Z400 shock barely compresses with the weight of the machine i dont really know why im saying all this but i thought i would let every one know and maybe i could get some input back on what you guys are thinking.

imo your money would be far better spent just getting the stock Z shock valved and sprung for your weight and riding style......best mod you can do for a quad is suspension

See i thought you could do that but when i brought it in to the shop i asked the guy if they could make it for my weight and for trail riding and he said they could do much to the shock and they just revalved it, it costed about 10 bucks

10 bucks? Thats great considering labor rates are generally 70-100 bucks an hour.

yeah, somethings very wrong....typical labor to tear down and rebuild and revalve a rear shock is about 90-200.00 depending on who does it and how well they tune it to your weight...I thing for 10.00 all he did is possibly adjust the preload on the stock spring and made a couple adjustments on the compression and rebound valves.........i've had several rear shocks rebuilt by different companies and it has always made a huge difference when it was done....GT Thunder does nice rear rebuilds..as does tcs and hygear.....and works..or if you like you can just buy a rear spring either single or dual rate and install it yourself....

Yes, you would unless you want to pick up a used rear shock on ebay and send it to them...i've seen them for as low as 25.00.....or maybe try craigs list in your area..sometimes people part out their quads on them...but before you commit to this have you tried adjusting the shock yourself?..Have you adjusted the static height and sag properly? .....or also as I said above you can just buy a spring kit and out it in yourself....shoot me a PM if you have the time and I can help you set upi your shock if you like...
