We are in the process of planning our honeymoon. Both of us want to go to Colorado, but really don't know the best city to visit. We want to get more of the outdoor aspect of the state (hiking, white water rafting, caves, waterfalls, etc), and would like to stay in a chalet or cabin on the outskirts of town. Neither of us care too much about skiing. Any suggestions?

Denver, Boulder, and Littleton were where I stayed. Plenty to do, just plan on doing a little driving here and there. Make sure and go up Pikes Peak.:macho

I was out to denver and winter park boarding once, along with beaver creek. Both great places to stop and relax for a while. great scenery to see while driving around denver and great views from the ski on the way there also. steve

If you head out west on 70, be sure to stop at Beaver Liqours in beaver creek. Buy a t-shirt.

Too bad we are going to be there the first part of October. I would really like to see that. Anybody know what the weather is going to be like that time of year, say in the Denver area?

Estes Park. Vail, Winter Park or beaver Creek. Or you can hit some of the casino towns for nice hotels Like Cripple Creek or Blackhawk/Centeral City.
You can even head to Colorado Springs and stay at the Broadmore Hotel.

tons of things to do here.

It will be 50-70s in the day. We usually dont get our first snow until the week before Halloween.

How far of a drive are these out of Denver? We want to keep our driving time to a minimum. There are several breweries that I want to visit while I'm out there, Boulder Beer and Great Divide being the main ones.

Everything seems to be about 2 hours from denver, in my limited experience.

Estes is about 2 hours
Vail about 3 1/2
Winter Park about 2
Beaver Creek is about 3
Broadmore is about 2 1/2
Cripple Creek about 3
Central City / Blackhawk about 1.10

there are a few descent breweries in denver I hear. I dont drink so I dont know really

Fat Tire is still up in Fort Collins and has a great tour that I have taken. Awesome facility its about 2 hours from the airport.

Coors is about 10 minutes from my house, pretty cool tour as well. About 40 minutes from the airport.

the breckenridge area is another fantastic place to visit, id say if your want to get a better out door experience in the summer, estes park would be my #1 choice, the hiking there is fantastic..

however, breck has the breckenridge brewery, which is very rustic and makes some fantastic beer, especially avalanche ale....

I'd love to go somewhere off the main land, but I don't know if our funds would to allow it. Guess we will just have to wait and see, though. I don't know how much planning y'all have left, but we don't have hardly anything set in stone, except the venue:p Cakes, dresses, tuxedos, table decorations...the list goes on:eek2: I have a feeling the honeymoon is probably going to be thrown together the week before.
