Can you give us some more info on how you built them??
Some close ups would be cool as well.
I always love seeing guys have the forethought to fabricate from scratch.

well i cut the old pegs off of the bracket with a cut off wheel. took some scrap stainless steel 1/4 plate from work. they are cut 200mm long and 50mm wide and 50mm tall. i took some small tubing to weld in the bottom to support them a little better and look better. i tacked them on to the bracket and took them home to fit up and make sure the angle of peg was right. then welded the peg to the bracket using 309 filler rod and tig weld. i didnt wont to but the way the pegs are originally built to just bolt of there and fold up dont work with these big of pegs so im going to line the peg up where i want it and put 4 one inch welds on the bracket to the frame using a mig welder. i know ill probably catch alot of hate for welding on a stock frame but owell. they will be more solid that way and can easily be cut back off with a cut off wheel. the reason i made new pegs is because on my stock ones it looks like someone hit a tree or something and tweaked one real good. i am going to cut the teeth in the pegs tomorow using a cut off wheel and air grinder. i am cutting triangle teeth in the every 10 mm. alot of fellow riders at work swore the material i used to build the pegs were to big until they saw it all welded than said it looked good lol

Look really good. Great welds and appear to be well thought out.
You going to powder them?

CODY_M11

no not going to powder them yet. i just want to get it running again and ride some this summer than plan on complete tear down and rebuild this winter than will either powder these pegs or maybe buy some new ones. thanks for your comments no one else seems to care lol

Cut the teeth out??
Love seeing people build stuff.
I dont know how to weld yet....need to either take some classes, courses or just start doing it through alot of trial and error.

I need a change of pace in my life right now so i think thats 1st on my list.
I have tons of ideas for the 250R and can fabricate alot of things but i just cant put them together yet.

Good job again!!

Very good welding wish I cold weld like that. Takes alot of time to learn to weld like that.

Is that stick welding if so that is even more talent getting those welds so evenly spaced.

The grips look awesome. No need to buy new ones when you rebuild. I bet those are stronger than any aftermarket ones and they give your bike that personal touch. Good Job.,.....

I think they turned out great! Sometimes building stuff yourself is the only way to get what you're really looking for and it costs a lot less too. I also like seeing other people's ideas and homemade stuff, especially when they are high-quality, like these pegs.

nope i tig welded the pegs together than mig welded them to the frame. i thank my dad for all my welding skills. he had me mig welding when i was bout 10 and thank my welding teacher for taking my skills even farther. i work for a big company welding high pressure pipe so im use to all my welds and work HAVING to look good so i try to make my personal projects the same lol. i love welding. even though im only 19 there is still so much room out there to expand my skills. i used a electric grinder with a cut off wheel to cut the teeth. i love the way they look but am worried how they will feel with the shifter and brake pedal so i might have to fab thoose later on once i get it running. i strongly advise every1 to atleast learn basic welding there is no limit to what you can make and the possibilitys are endless. i painted them black so that should do till winter. pdxbigfoot pm me with some of your ideas for custom parts and ill try to help you out. i want to make my own parts instead of buying them anyways. its just nice when some one sees your work and says o where did you buy that i want some and your like buy what? i made thoose than they dont believe you and than you explain it to them and are like wow thats awesome.

Looks real good man! Very professional looking. I am a diesel mechanic and took a few welding and machine tool classes while I went to tech school. Love seeing guys custom build their own sfuff. Anyone can go just buy the stuff. Not taking anything away from anybody but it just feels good to accomplish something like what you just did. Good job!!

looks good man! maybe you should have made them a little wider like the IMS Roll Design pegs.

CODY_M11
04-26-2010, 10:54 PM
i honestly thought of making them wider but they fit into the flat part of the center of my but right now perfect. if they were wider i think it would of felt akward. i plan on attempting making my own a arms and swing arm soon. :D

very nice work man! and you are correct, everyone should get behind the mask and follow the puddle. Ya just never know what your greatest skill could be. I started about 5 years ago, i'm terrible at it but it gets me out of a bind sometimes.
