Does anyone here know what the valve clearance should be on a 250ex? It's time to do initial maintenance but I haven't bought a service manual yet. The 400ex is .005 for exhaust valves and .004 for intake, but I can't assume the 250ex is the same. Any help is appreciated.

Valve clearance is .005 for both intake and exhaust.

250exnj,

I installed the exhaust and the K&n filter the same day. I also changed the main jet from a stock 95 to a 120. I've got a lot more low end power than before. I can now wheelie just using my right thumb. My wife has a 2002 recon. Before my mods I would beat her in a 100 yard race by about 1-2 bike lengths. Now I shift through the gears alot quicker and I can really blow her away. I've also been running without an airbox lid, but it's running lean. I'm gonna run it with the vented lid on and then check the plug again.

Killa250ex,

If the t-4 is a slip-on and your not going to do any airbox mods, I'd probably start with about a 115 main and go from there. Check the needle also. My stock needle only had 3 grooves and the clip was already on the bottom groove.
