looking for a motor

friend of mine just bought an 86 for 250 dollars, but the motor is trashed. He is looking to buy a complete motor and possibly some other parts. i will have to see what else he needs. any help will be appreciated.

would it be better cost wise to rebuild the one he has? the crank is locked up and there is metal shavings everywhere in it. i have not seen the motor myself this is just what he has told me.

A dude from Minneapolis craigslist has been try to sell an 88' R motor for about a year. I think he is asking 1000, but like I said it's been on there for a while. He lives in Becker, MN.

All the stuff is top rate, first class, built by BDT-M, the owner of BDT Motorsports is an old 2 stroke Guru, the most knowledgeable person I have ever talked to about 2 stroke racing engines, he builds some awesome race engines, port work, everything you need.

OK WE FINALLY TOOK IT APART AND IT A BETTER SIGHT THAN WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. THE ROD BEARINGS CAME APART AND WENT DOWN IN THE MOTOR, THEREFORE LOCKING IT UP. AND SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE SHIFTER LIKE IT MOVES ALMOST 90 DEGREES UP AND DOWN WHEN YOU TRY TO SHIFT IT. WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS?

best thing to do is to pull the engine(if you havent do so aready) and dissassemble. while doing so, inspect everything. you should be able to recognise whats happening with the shifter.

WELL I HAVENT REALLY GOT TO LOOK AT IT AND NEVER BEEN TO FAR INTO AN R MOTOR SO I REALLY NOT SURE WHAT I LOOKING AT. HE DOES HAVE A MANUAL TO LOOK AT SO I SURE WE CAN FIGURE IT OUT.

yeah it was at like 1500 or 1200 but that whole things in new and all OE... well worth it if you ask me.
