first and second gear fall on there face

i have a 86 r and first and second gear like to fall on their face and sputter instead of powerband but as soon as i shift into third and up it runs perfect. any one have any suggestions? thanks

need more info, compression, carb and jetting to get started

lets see i just got it and havnt done a compression test yet but i have a 150 main jet and i have a 35mm keihin carb

is this after initial start/warmup or does it do that after its been riden awhile and at operation temps?

even after its been warmed up nothing changes. is this even a fuel problem? i mean i think it is because as im trying to tweak things in the jets i can tell a difference but i cant get it just right. i put a 145 main in it now and it runs better than all the others just doesnt feel quite right still.
