what makes it long travel??

Ok this might seem smple but I would still like to hear it.what is the differance in long travel arms and regular ones?? if you have a front end 44" wide and one is long travel and the other is reg whats the diff?? I would assume its the shocks?? longer with more travel meanng your arms have shock mounts out further!! is this right is it the same for the rear end if I have a 3" ext swingarm with a 11" shock and one with a 14.5 long travel is that all there is??

Thats pretty much it. The shock mounts are different allowing for more travel. There are several designs out there and there is a little more to it but that is the basic idea.
