HELP!!! Does anyone know if plastics from a 2009 450R will fit on a 2004?

I am looking at buying a set of plastics off of a 2009 450R, but am not sure if they will fit on my 2004. I know that the 2007's will fit with a little modification, but I know they changed little things on the 2009's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How do you know that they will? Have you done it before? I am not trying to question you, I just want to make absolutely sure that they will fit before committing to the purchase. Thank you for the help, I greatly appreciate it.

the 2009 plastic is the exact same as the 2007 plastic that you already know will fit. SO the little modifications that the 2007 plastic needs is all that the 2009 will need.

yes, the 09 plastics will fit on an 04. I put all 09 plastics, including the tanks with no mods to the plastics on my 05, I also put the headlight on too but that requires some modification. You do have to replace the heat shield under the tank, due to the plastics have different mounting style. Other than the heat shield they will mount right up. If I think of anything else I will let ya know.

Hey so your saying if I replace my rears on my 05 with the 06+ I will need the heat shield too or is tht just bc you put the tank on? So the tabs on the 05 rear plastic where they push into the heatshield are different? Just want to be clear so I order the right stuff the first time. And the fronts are the same?

I just looked a the parts list for the 05-09. I cannot be 100%, but it looks like in the parts list that 04-07 had the same tabs on the rear plastics where it attaches to the heat shield. It looks like 08-09 they changed the mounting style. I can 100% say that 09 changed because that is what I used. I have a heat shield that I bought from a guy that said it was off an 06, it has the same tabs as the 05. If you go to hondapowersports parts and reference the fuel tank to will see there is change in the heat shield between 07-08. Can someone post a pic of how the rear plastics mount on your 06-07 and confirm this please?

I did a little lookin myself, the part numbers are different for the 04-05 heatshields compared to the 06-07 but do look the same..hmm? Anyone who has done the 06-07 plastic on the 04-05 plz chime in!!!

The tank heat shield is different... The tabs on the front of the rear plastics that push into the gromets is different. Get the heat shield and your good. Or remove the gromets...

Did you put the actual tank on an 05 or just the tank plastics? Can you post pics too please?

I put the 09 tank on, not just the cover. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow.

I put 07 plastic on my 04 wit no issues whatsoever. Everything mounted right up. As the other guy said, the grommets on the front part of the rear plastic are different but not enough that it didnt work easily. The right side (sitting on the quad) pushed in fine. The left side near where you turn the gas on, I had to kind of "fit it in" I made a small cut with a razor knife and viola.....new white plastic.
