Spal fan and air scoops

I have a 440ex with stage 3 hotcams, full hmf competition series, no lid and K&N Filter. I want to know if a fan and some scoops are gonna help me. The motor seems to run hot but its normal for an air cooled engine right. Also looking at maybe an oversized aluminum oil tank. Any input would be great.

I did the Spal fan on mine and it made a big difference on the heat. Those fans move a lot of air and they are sealed so water and dust won't screw it up. They suck it through the oil cooler and blow a lot of air across the motor. I have a Trail Tech Vapor and you can see the temp drop when the fan is on. Way worth the effort. If you keep the speed up the scoops will have to help too. More air across the motor the better.

The one I used is the 4 inch pull fan. You need to use the pull fan cause it will be needed to be mounted to the back side of the oil cooler. I got mine off ebay for like $35 or $40 with free shipping. Look in the most common thread section on Spal Fan install and all the pictures you need are there. The install I did was almost exactly whats in there. There is a whole kit on ebay for like $110 buy it now but I found everything I needed for like half that. The 4 inch pull fans come and go on ebay so you might need to keep an eye out for a bit till one comes up again. I think I had to wait for maybe a week till one showed up for the right price. There is one on ebay right now for $55 but if you wait a bit I'll bet one comes up for less. They are super tough fans. I did a deep water crossing and the the whole fan was under water for a bit and running. When I got out of the water it was still blasting away.

A SPAL fan is all you need, a must do mod on any EX. There is a sticky on this.

Im building a 440 also, when i get home im going to do the aux oil cooler that cools the oil to the head, and put the 4" spal on that cooler.... Also another idea I had to help keep the motor a lil cooler was to wrap the header in header tape to keep some heat away from the motor.. Any input on that??? Anybody tried it?? I figure every lil bit helps.......

yes the header tape work i got it on my 08 400 and u can tell the diff.

Not sure were he got it, but almost every parts store i've been in has it... Autozone even has it....
