Looking to buy a chassis skidplate asap, just curious what you guys are running and what you think. I have rath nerfs and I know with a tag I'd have to do cutting so that ones out. I was thinking a simple ac .125 but im not sure if the mounting will interfere with the nerfs. Thanks for any suggestions

MotoXpetrs has a poly skid thats what i am planning on getting, and i was also told they would fit perfect.

I am running a full Pro Armor chassis skid. I smashed in the piece of plate steel between the frame rails behind the rear a arm mounts a couple weeks ago and now I will not run with out the chassis skid. It will hold some dirt-mud but worth it not to bang up the frame in my mind.

I have a Rath Mini skid and it does nothing to protect the chassis. Just the motor.

i like the poly skids the best, ive used aluminum skids before and all they do is rattle and dent and are a pain to mount and never stay mounted. ive broken a couple off before. i switched to maier skids for the last 3-4 seasons and they are great. they mount up easy, they are light, they dont make noise and they glide off of stuff better.

I hated my aluminum skid and had all the same problems eastside mentioned. I also just got a maier and im happy so far. Great customer service too!

on the moto-xperts skid, does hardware come with I hope?

I hope? the MXP comes with the round clamps like the maier, it doesnt use any of the stock mounts, the way the maier and MXP skids are mounted are the best way to do it, they wont break or come off.

Anyone try a new Janseen Motorsports one? They look nice like the tag or the maier?

funny I used to run a full alu. skid. always hated it when time to change the oil. Then I got a new one, its was a two pc job & never put it on. Now I've put the mx link on. What skids plate will just protect the rotor & chain ?
It would have to be able to accomidate the link. Tried to put the stock one back but it wouldn't work.

PS Thanx Pappy it work. all I gotta do is get u some $$$$$$$$$$

if you ride mx then dont bother putting one on the rear, it will just get bent up into your rotors and sprokets, and drag in ruts

So most mx quads dont have a swingarm skidplate? I have had one on mine since I bought it, should i take it off or

I'm sure its 50 50. I would perfer one so not to dent my stuff. If it mushes it I'd fix it needed but to have one is my preference.

No, hardly anyone uses them. They catch on ruts super bad. There is really no point to them either, its not like we are climbing rocks and logs that will destroy our stuff.

no one that is actually good at mx uses one, put it that way, atleast on the hondas, some other bikes use a rotor guard or something, but i wouldnt use a swingarm skid on a honda for mx

GT THunder sells poly full body skid blanks for 25 plus shipping...you make your own mounting holes and hardware.... .. i wouldnt bother with tag.... youll have to cut a 130 dollar skidplate so you might as well spend 25 and drill some holes.

I dont think that tag still sells them DO THEY? but i liked my tag it lasted three years its starting to get loose but the mounts can be sanded down and tightened up easily

ebay has janssen Tag Railer poly skids for 145 dollars shipped that is what i am going with. I race XC but i think that is the best for both. and if i were running MX i would just go with a dual sided sprocket guard and rotar guard on the rear instead of a rear skid.

Looks good. I don't see any holes for the oil to drain?

We took the stock plate & cut it up with the roto zipper & mounted that on. It is small & protects only the chain & rotor just like we wanted.

FYI to all - Just make sure u put the washers on any plate u use in the back , otherwise you'll run the bolts directly into ur carrier

dont bother putting a hole in for an oil drain, it makes a mess, my maiers had the cutouts and i even made them bigger but the oil still ends up everywhere, its a couple screws, just take the plate off and drain the oil, alot easier

I put holes in mine and its perfect no mess, they just have to be in the right spot and the right size, and it helps to beval the edge a little in case it does miss.

Yea no oil holes but it mounts easy. I just pop it off when I need to.

if your doing your oil offten you might want to drill the holes I did when I got mine 3 years ago its a tag but they are the same. after a while the mounts start to wear out the thing I did is belt sand the flat side of the mount to shorten it up and it fits as tight as new, but I recomend drilling holes so you dont have to keep taking off, and stand a chance of stripping the mounts out!
