My 400ex burned up in a fire

For those of you that didn't know this,,,I bought this 400ex in the late fall of 1999,,it is a 2000 model...It was only 3 weeks old, still on the 3 rd tank of gas and i dropped it off to have some mild motor work done to it..since I knew nothing about 4 strokes at the time. 3 hours after I dropped it off the place of business caught fire and burned to the ground..with my quad inside along with 30 other bikes. To make a long story short..the guy did not have proper insurance..I tried to sue him and in the end he filed bankrupcy and I got a big fat nothing out of all of it..except a $7000 loss...:( 4 Months prior to that I had my modified Polaris sport 400L stolen..so I have not had good luck with quads..and for those of you that don't have insurance on your quad...your a fool...don't learn the hard way like I did...:(

Nope...believe me I tried....he was protected because his company was a .Inc..so he as an individual was protected...I can say that he is wanted by several people and had numerous death threats...I still plan on breakin both his knee caps in the near future...:mad:

this is actually very interesting for people to know, everyone thinks that "it wont happen to them" so they don't get insurance or anything...

before i even rode my quad i got insurance just in case, if you think about it, it isn't that expensive because if something does go wrong you automatically get money for it.

I bought in the full montey for my quad. If i bird craps on it i can get a settlement. :D Insurance is a MUST. Its hard to feel sorry for people that don't have insurance. Sorry rico. Sometimes u gotta learn the hard way :mad: :(

Well what sucks,,is the polaris had insurance..so I got money for it..the 400ex was so new I hadn't called yet and got it setup..3 weeks of puttin it off cost me $7,000.

wow, you scared me there Rico! Thought the 416 went up in a blaze! I now realise what went on, sorry to hear about that stuff that happened in the past... I know what you mean about insurance, I got it all on the 400ex, I would rather know its there and not have to use it though... my sleds got it all too! I just dont know what I would have done in your shoes... I know my dad would have flipped out...

I have about the same luck as you Rico, I had a Scrambler stolen, no insurance on it, and it was at a guys shop who claims he doesnt have insurance either:grr I wish a million times I had done something else with it. I am thinking about getting insurance on my hondas, but dont you have to have titles?? I dont have a single bit of paperwork on my quads.

No particular reason..I had scanned a pic of my old polaris sport 400L for another thread and that pic of my old 400 was next to it so i scanned it to and figured I'd let all the people know what happened..and maybe shed some light on those that cry because there part they ordered showed up 4 days late..how'd ya like to find out your quad was stolen or read in the paper that the place you just dropped your new quad off at burned to the ground..:macho Be thankful you have a quad and if things don't go your way..tough titty,,thats life...:cool:
