Guys I just got my new ITP front rims with fresh Holeshot tires. I am noticing that there is no counter sink for the factory lugs to recess into. It looks like the factory rims have pressed in steel sleeves. Do I need a set of ITP sleeves or something or a whole new set of lugs for these rims? Thanks for the help!

You need lugs with a flat base to them, not tapered like the stock ones are.

Rocky mtn sells them, like $1.50 ea for either kind. Be aware they wont be 17mm anymore, but 10mm (or is it 12mm i forget).

Either that or get the tapered base lugs

It would not be a good idea to put them on backwards b/c they arent designed for it.

They will be %100 ok backwards.

When you turn them around backwards, also use washers. If not, the lug will eventually damage the surface of the wheel.

This..

They shouldnt be on backwards b/c of the way the pressure is exerted on the wheel. When they are tapered they push slightly into the hole, when flat the flat area contacts the flat area of the wheel and exerts pressure on that.

Its not a huge deal, but really are people to cheap to spend like 10 bucks on lugs?

My stock lugs work fine backwards.

the tapered lug nuts center the wheel on the hub. without a counter sink the wheels won't be centered and will wobble

No, Itp wheels are quite a tight fit on the hub.

Turning the lugs around is and has been standard practice forever.

Usually it presents no problems, but if you over torque the lugs you can deform the hole, thats why washers are recommended.

Has anyone drilled out the ITP holes and counter sunk them and installed the factory stainless sleeves? I have a lot of equipment in my garage and even a drill press to set the wheel on so the holes would be spot on. I don't like the idea of the steel wheel stud being in contact with the aluminum rim.

This always happens to me! I should of spent 50 bucks more and got the ITP T9 GP rims because they are already fitted with the stainless sleeves. I'm always learning after the fact. Guess thats life though.

Just want to make sure stuff is right dude and not just thrown together like most hackers do. Take a chill pill.

I’ve had mine on backwards for 4 years and I’ve had no problems at all. They wont come loose and it will be fine, what little mark it makes on the rim is covered by the nut so you cant see it anyway. No washer needed.
Put’em on and ride that sucker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
