Chasing an electrical problem on 88 250r, intermittently loosing fire and bike running funny sometimes even when it does start (but other times runs fine) , all ohm readings on coil and stator seem to be within spec per manual...but checked the ac regulator voltage output at white/yellow and green wires and have 30 to 40 volt AC depending on rpm.
Not sure how this is even possible ?
only thing i can think of is stator windings shorted out....

has anyone seen this before or have any ideas ?

my guess, bad coil.

I was hopefull that might be the problem (coil) but I tried switching a coil from a running bike and no change....so I'm thinking stator or CDI.....just trying to avoid buying both.

checked voltage output on running bike and it was only 13 volt/ ac max.....so i'm thinking stator but I've never had one put out more than they are supposed to they always get weak.....so wondering if anyway CDI could be backfeeding voltage ??

the white wire is the lighting and with no voltage regulator those numbers are correct.

first if possiable remove the kill switch from the circuit and test.

clean all wire connectors and use a small screw driver/pick and clean corrosion on terminals.
