Last weekend when i went out riding, after hitting I guess too many rocks, my skidplate fell off and cracked the two rear mounts in the process. Can these be filled with an aluminum weld, be redrilled and retapped?

They could be repaired, however in the long run, you are probably better off snagging a take off swinger from ebay and just replacing it

hopefully I will be able to snag one for cheap at the swap meet this weekend, otherwise I'm gonna have to try and fill them with welds.

skidplates, not bashplates.

I would weld them up nice, making sure to beef them up and then tap them for the bolt pitch and put it back together. Much simpler than a whole new piece.

IDK but I would at least fill those holes with something because now dirt, mud, water, grit will get up in around your axle carrier making it hard to turn when adjusting your chain or removing carrier. I figured this out the other day while replacing my rear bearings. I was missing a bolt on my skid plate (one under carrier, like yours) which was letting mud and water and everything else get inside and it looked a mess when I took it off

haha I know but anyone here who has ridden in west milford, nj will understand how bad the rocks are. It was off for 5 minutes before the rotor hit and bent

Gotta love the north east's rocks and roots. Hell on tires and skids.

sure thing. neither did I until I tore it down to install bearings and when I finally got my carrier out I looked inside swinger and noticed, holy crap, no wonder all that water and mud was in there, the bolt hole for the skid plate goes all the way through the swinger into the carrier area. factory honda should have made a stop point for bolt.

but, if you got a bolt in shouldn't anything get in there, but just to make sure, I put that white plumbing tape around my skid plate bolts before I put them in ;)

Oh I know that area quite well, lived there for most of my life before I moved 10 years ago. I lived off stonetown rd, which is aptly named.

GL with fixing it!

heres some pics of my skidplate setup. it might look thin, but its built pretty solid and gives some good ground clearance. and it sounds like you could really benefit from some 22 inch tires, raise that rear end up a little bit out of the rocks.
