I have searched but can't find a answer to this question.

we were riding on blacktop the other day low RPM 5th gear and the engine locked up. we rocked it back then it would turn over but real hard to turn. took the top end apart and everything looks GREAT and I am pretty sure that the crank bearings are bad.

is there a chance that the crank is still good or do I need a new one?

can I just buy a crank and bearings and put it back together?

BTW it's an 04 model and has metal shavings in the oil.

I picked this thing up for $200 and it looks new and has K+K graphics and seat, good tires, full white brothers exhaust, jetted and K+N filter along with good brakes and all that but the top end is off the motor because what we think is the crank bearings.

should I part it out, fix it and ride, sell as is or fix then sell?

Fix it and ride. Find the upgrade kit and put it back togeather. I think Servicehonda.com has the kit.

$253.42 CRANKSHAFT 13000-HP1-671
$38.88 BEARING 91008-HP1-672
$5.33 BEARING (12X16X10) 91101-PZ9-000

Plus some seals and maybe a case spliter and fly wheel puller. Tell them you need the upgrade and they'll get you set up.

do you have to do the upgrade kit and what is it for? does a hot rod stroker crank have the upgrade and if I use a stroker crank will I have to change anything else?

The hot rod kit will already be taken care of. Sounds like OEM bearings are best to use, not the Hot Rod bearings.
