so got the 440 kit stage 3 cam , 450r carb , full hmf exhaust . if im out riding for about 15 and turn off the bike and go to turn it back on with out it sitting atleast 5 min it craps out and i have to give it 5-10 revs for it to clear up and it runs like a champ again , but if you let her sit for atleast 5 min or longer and start it back up she is fine dont have to give it any revs , any body got any answers???

Back off the pilot jet a few sizes, its flooding out slightly, it starts and runs fine after a few minutes because the gas had time to evaporate and settle back down.

If your pipes arent glowing, you probally wont be overheating it, get a temp reading just to be safe.

Just my opinion.

what size piolet jet you recommend , the only thing i have done is messed with the main but it did it before i put a smaller main in . and yea the pipes glow a nice gold so i know it gets hot but what you said makes sense just wondering what size piolet. thanks

seems u guys have about the same setup as i do minus the 450 carb. i have 440, stage 3 hotcam, full hmf competition, k&Nfilter with outerwear and outerwear lid. i am having problems with jetting. right no i have a 220 main, 52 pilot, and air screw 3 turns out. im still runnin a little bit lean. the plug is grey. any ideas?

you just have a stock 400ex carb? usually when you bump up the motor you put a bigger carb on. i dont think they make any jets bigger than a 220 atleast i couldnt find any local . i suggest 450 carb , mine runs good besides the fact i had to put a smaller pilot jet in it but other wise its good , you will notice a difference to .

Is the hot start properly blocked off?

Is putting the 450r carb on pretty easy or is there alot of modification involved?
