I might get a jeep wrangler for an extra toy to play with. I would like to get a yj 1997 or up. I know that the cj's had week frames. I want a jeep to do a little off roading with nothng major. But something I can still drive on the road. Any good info about jeeps would be good. Also post some pic of your jeep if you have one.

there awsoem until they hydrolocked ( side note. dnt leave ur jeep in a puddle over night).there awsoem vehicles, taking the doors and roof off. cruisin the beach with friends...drivin to bonfires in the woods...good in the snow...chitty on gas..good offroading, very tight turning radious, pretty skinny to fit down trails.

o yea this is my jeep, with 32"s on it, the water was about 2 feet higher around the door handles in this "puddle". i left it there over night ( i no longer condon drinkin and off roading)...(its behind my house i did not go on any roads or public land), it was about 4 degrees out i had work in about 4 hours and said screw it...bad idea...but still awsome vehicles

Yea might be horrible but the 4cyl has like NO power. I think the old toyotas have more power than them things.

i have read alot about the 4.0's and they seem to have exhuast manfold problems. Its one of those things where either its broke before or its going to. watch out for that if you get the 6cyl.

get the yj or the cj. I am not a big fan of the tj.

if you go with the cj then get a 258 motor...they are the best.

if you go with the yj then get the 4.0. Like said before, they are hard on gas but they are good motors.

I have owned several.

My fovorite was my 78 CJ 7. it had the 258 with the split header. Awesome machine.

this thing is sick. i love listening about how these jeeps cant do anything, cant offroad, cant crawl, cant get dirty. BS, i have been in this jeep on the rocks, in sand dunes, in the mud, in the water, everything. seen it stuck ONCE, going up a sand dune and buried it. it was not fun. had to dig it out.

go to jeep fourm to much infomation over there. def go yj and make sure its a 91 or new you want efi not those ****ty carb ones. also get a 5 speed. even with the 4 cly the 5 speed makes it driveable on the trails 4 cly are alot cheaper

if you plan on doing a lot of trails i would go with an automatic. 6 cylinder without a doubt. reason for an automatic, when your in tight trails, you want to be able to look around/check yourself. you can do this without a doubt with a manual, its just another unnecessary bonus. Your not getting a big v8 here, your not going to be slamming gears like you would in a mustang. just my two cents.

Stick is nice b/c you can rock it back and forth if stuck and imho if you know how to drive one you can have alot of control.

my dad has one. its stock minus 31x9.5's. Its a 04 with a 5 speed and its a blast to drive. The 4.0 straight 6 seems to have potential, but he doesnt want to unrestrict it. I wanna cold air it and throw headers on it because its just a mall cruiser. No mud here. This thing would cry.

If I had to do it all over again I would def. go with a tj six cylinder with an automatic

Why would you want to go with a TJ. And what is the difference between the TJ AND YJ. The jeep that you have looks like a CJ7?

Napalm Nate

tj's have link suspension versus leaf springs on a yj. the aftermarket bolt on suspensions are way better than the old leaf springs ( no more axlewrap) also better fuel injection and more support from the aftermarket as far as parts go plus they have round headlights like a jeep should have lol (yj's have square)
and yes I have a cj bought it in '99 tj's where only two years old then

Back years ago I had a 1981cj 7 with a strait six and that thing would do some serious four wheeling. The only thing that broke on it was the rear drive shaft, no sweat though I just took the rear u joints off and locked in the front wheels and away we go. Front wheel drive only.
A v8 is too big and heavy the strait six is the way to go
When I went from the stock tires to some 33’s it made it where it wouldn’t sink in the mud but being so light I had to spin the wheels a lot more to get them to dig in and get down to the good stuff.
Great toy to have around.
